mario party 10, mario maker and puzzles and dragons smb edition say hi (also technically yoshi's wooly world but thats kinda a subseries like DK)

all bill trinen said was "Mario games release more frequently but we don't have a new Mario game this year so it's not an annual event."
the interview took place right at the end of 2014 even though it seems like it was released in 2015 (im not sure because the timestamp in the article the OP linked says it was posted on Jan 5, but the timestamp on the actual interview says Jan 7 so maybe the timestamps are inaccurate idk), so its quite possible that by 'this year' he meant 2014
also as an added note, regardless of whether it was 2014 or 2015 that he was refering to, it still cant refer to spinoffs as well because there were spinoffs last year

Actually, there's a chance they'll make another F-Zero. Miyamoto stated that "If we create a new type of controller interface, and we find a controller interface that's particularly suited for F-Zero, then maybe we'll do something with it in the future."
