Used Internet Explorer (full of ads) now Chrome is fucked up

I did a thing on Internet Explorer (no I didn't download anything, all I did was log into a Gamefaqs alt) and that damn browser ran slow as hell and was full of popups and audio ads.

Soon as I finish what I had to do, I immediately close IE and go back into Chrome (my normal browser)

Now Chrome has all the same fucking shit that was all over IE! How the hell did that happen when I didn't download shit.
 
Because Internet Explorer is not causing the popups. Other programs on your computer will auto-run when a browser is launched.

I don't know if you're computer-savvy enough to do this, but if you can head into Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and look for suspicious programs, you can select them and click the "End Process" button to get rid of them.

It helps if you pull up Task Manager, then start up your browser to see if any other programs that aren't firefox.exe or iexplore.exe show up.

If the program keeps appearing, right click on the program, select Open File Location, and delete everything in there.
 
You might also want to get a malware detection program and have it run a search on your system.

I'm using a combination of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Spybot- Search & Destroy and they usually serve me well. They are both free too.
