gamecube memory card help

My memory card is corrupted. The file that used to say Super Smash Bros Melee now says "ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ" and so on. The other files look fine because Melee is the only one I've played since.

Are my files besides Melee still savable? Can I copy them to another memory card?

Barring that, if I erase the Melee file, will everything else be fine as long as I only touch Melee before erasing it?
 
I'm not sure, but if you get a 2nd memory card, you could try to copy the other files before it says they are corrupted
 
I'll wait until someone knows if it will work.

I wouldn't want to spend money on a new card only for the idea to not work.
 
Try loading a game. GameCube games usually prompt you with a message "This memory card is corrupted, would you like to reformat it?" and it will fix the memory card for you. Well this happens to me on Dolphin Emulator whenever I start anew but in theory it should do that.

Unfortunately you will lose your data if you reformat your mem card.

Reformatting usually clears storage units like sd cards and stuff
 
Would copying the files to another memory card to another file save them (besides the unsavable melee file)?
 
It should if they are not corrupted
 
This topic is resolved.

The only messed up file was Melee. Everything else was safe.
