GHOSTBUSTERS!

Talk about Ghostbusters here, including the upcoming one.
All female ghostbusters? great as if they needed to rule 63 that.

The all female one is an interesting twist to the Ghostbuster franchise. It's a reboot of the series so there's absolutely no problem with it.

the only thing bad things I can see from it are misogynist fools crying over it

The guys probably get it too, ya know.

Looking forward to the new Ghostbusters.

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones are hilarious.

why are they even doing another ghostbusters
To introduce Ghostbusters to a new generation.

Was that a trick question?
so just show them the old ghostbusters movie which is still great

aaaagh

this is the kind of argument that bothers me so much. it's not like the new generation is physically and mentally incapable of enjoying older movies

but no, we need to get more and more sequels and reboots because

I don't exactly see the harm in making another Ghostbusters movie. Yes, the first movie was great and you have a point about kids being able to enjoy the first, but give me a reason why another Ghostbusters would be so bad?

And yeah, corporations have done some terrible things, but I would never, not in a million years, put rebooting a franchise anywhere near the top of the list of those things.

oh god no please dont tell me theyre doing a ghostbusters 3 now that they can't possibly get the original cast anymore

Not to mention that this whole premise of the movie seems more like a fan fiction than anything.
I kinda feel like anytime someone other than the original creator remakes, reboots or adapts a work or series, it's essentially just studio-sanctioned fanfiction. Same with other people writing more books for a series after the author dies. It just always baffles me that people act like fanfiction is some sort of bastardized form of writing, and yet most don't bat an eye at this sorta thing (aside from the cash-grab aspect - which is actually one thing most fanfiction isn't guilty of, lol).

Anyway, I hope the film turns out okay. The original is a classic and needs no remaking, so I'm glad they're going for a new instalment instead, and if they're going to have to get a new team anyway, why not an all-girls crew? Hopefully the surviving originals will still be in it in some capacity, tho.

While I'm considerably more optimistic about this than most people in this thread, I do have to wonder: Even with the new cast, does this have to be a reboot? Couldn't they be a successor to the original team, with the surviving cast having roles as retired mentor figures?
