Talk about games you dislike that are generally praised by others. Note that these are all opinions, so let's treat them as such.

I have no idea why people like this game, it's so underwhelming for something that was part of the same group of games as Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy. I'd have preferred a "Super Mario Galaxy 3D" since I'm quite sure the 3DS could've handled it.

It's just that, Galaxy felt so grand and epic, being in space and all. Then along comes 3D Land, running on a Galaxy-esque engine but having the same tired old story and world as the New Super Mario Bros. games. I enjoyed it of course, but I have no intent of ever going back to it, unlike the other 3D Mario games that I still pick up once in a while. I'm not really a fan of Sunshine either, but at least it had a unique premise and deviated from the usual generic "cross the Mushroom Kingdom and breach Bowser's large stone castle full of lava" deal.

I can't believe they were going in such a great direction with the Galaxy games, then decided "LEL N0STALG1A" and added a flagpole and time limit. Every main series Mario game since then has revolved around running for a flagpole. Why is this? "LEL G0TTA REFERENCE DA CLASS1CS!!!1" I get throwing in a reference or two, but basing your 8th generation game completely on something from the NES is idiotic.

64 innovated. Sunshine innovated. Galaxy innovated. What did 3D Land do? Take Super Mario Bros. 3 and slap a 3D plane on it. Disgraceful.

And you were expecting me to talk about Sticker Star. Note the key word: "acclaimed."

Super Mario Galaxy 2

do I even have to explain again why I don't like the game?

I'm also not a fan of Yoshi's Island (and for you yokels out there it's NOT because of Yoshi being playable)

1st of all, Sticker Star was acclaimed, (where are you reading)

A Metacritic average of "75%" is not "critically acclaimed", it's simply generally positive reception

Most people I've come across dislike it.
Anecdote isn't the plural of data.

How are you getting the word "critically" from that? It says acclaimed, not critically acclaimed, meaning that score is good enough for him to mention.

Just wanted to say something, OP.

Saying that you don't understand how people can like something(even if it's literally true) is trying to discredit people's opinions, even if you don't mean it to. Just saying.
Vaguely in the same group of games as 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy. Maybe you're stretching what 3D Land is too much.

So it's actually just weasel wording?

Whenever I see the word "acclaimed" I think of like 9/10 games and stuff. You know, like Bayonetta 2, Half-Life 2, The Last of Us, etc.

Not Sticker Star which has above average reception at best

I think "acclaimed" and "critically acclaimed" are actually the same term, it's just that the "critically" part is redundant.

Ooohhh my opinions...

Super Mario Galaxy 2

No. I don't get any of the appeal besides maybe the addition of Yoshi. It doesn't have a plot, the levels aren't as fun, it's boring as hell. Sorry for all those who like SMG2, but it's just a bad game that honestly shouldn't have existed. It's basically a 50 dollar DLC.

Other games I don't like:
MKDS. To this day, the most underwhelming boring MK game that I ever experienced. Yes, even more boring than Super Circuit. I have played all the courses, and the only ones that I liked were Tick Tock Clock and Baby Part ( :birdo: ). This game as a pretty good fanbase, but it's so bland and unentertaining.

Any game with minigames as it's main focus. Just, I don't enjoy any of those.

Ocarina of Time. Ok I don't dislike it, I'm just a big "meh" on it. There's sooooo many better Zelda games imo. But compared to how a lot of other people love it, it might as well count as a "dislike"

DragonFreak, do you know what critic scores Skylanders games get?

The latest one has 86 from Metacritic to put that in perspective. (from 4 critics tho)

So yeah, incorporate that in this thread.

Holy fucking shit.

Wha?

I don't even?

Well yeah Skylanders is also a game a loathe that is acc-sorry I can't put those two words in the same sentence.

I don't need to explain why either, everyone already knows.

Super Mario 64 and A Link to the Past although I thought the latter was just ok

Bioshock infinite. Not a bad game but it feels extremely dumbed down from the first Bioshock (which amusingly is even more dumbed down from its system shock predecessors)

"critically acclaimed" means "acclaimed by professional critics (as opposed to the general public)". critically is not an intensifier

on topic, i've never cared for anything in the super smash bros. franchise

Majora's Mask, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Superstar Saga.

I'm also not big on Yoshi's Island but I don't really dislike it, I think it's just ok.
