so i'm looking into buying a budget surround sound system. unfortunately, i'm not an audiophile and i actually know pretty little when it comes to sound
i found a system on amazon that's pretty cheap but has good reviews that'll probably suit my purposes , but i have a few questions

essentially i want this for using my blu-ray players, which is hooked up to my tv via hdmi. the tv has an audio output which i believe is 3.5mm, but am not sure. would i be able to connect that using an aux cable or something to the system? also, do i need an amp/receiver system? i think i read that this set doesn't need one, but if anyone can help me understand, that'd be great.
