I heard on the news that Obama's currently working with the UK goverment on a website rating sytem. I think it's going to fail because it's goiong to be hard to rate websites like Wikipedia. What do you guys think of it?

If they censor the internet, EVERYTHING would go away. However A) this only says "rating", not "censoring" and B) I have not seen this anywhere other than this thread, so it might not be true.

They're not cencoring it, they are just making a website rating thing so kids are "safe".

Yeah, I really dought this is going to work, it's not like rating movies, there's too many Websites, and it will probably misjudge them.

Yeah. I can only see sites like Wikipedia getting an Adults Only sort of rating, it's like trying to rate an encyclopedia. In fact, in many cases, it IS rating an encyclopedia.

It's not like Wikipedia is a pornography site, it's an educational site, so I disagree, but that's me.

Parents will complain eventually if Wikipedia doesn't get an Adults Only rating. That's just how things go here in America. Things being "Child Safe" always comes before education.

We're not that picky over here, anyone who is that protective is just an idiot in my opinion.

People can often spot out a bad site themselves.

ANd little kids probably wouldnt be able to figure out how to browse to a different site anyway.

It seems redundant.
