Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games - No Wii mote

Hi Everyone,

I just got a Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games for my Wii U :D

Unfortunately I don't have a Wii mote and have no idea how I can go about doing stuff like events.

Any idea how I can play without a Wii mote?

Use the GamePad?

Never had the game so I'm sorry if I wasted your time.
 
according to the wiki article, some events only use the gamepad so you can only play those i guess
