Little Touches in the Mario series that Delight You

The Mario games have a tendency to include those little touches in games that makes each game special. Some examples include stuff like rewarding/punishing players for punching butterflies in Super Mario 64 or having Pixel Luigi appear in some spots in Super Mario 3D World. I am sure some of those little touches stood out to you. Sometimes, there are little touches that weren't intentional at all, but you can't help but notice them.

To start off the list, I shall list a few of what minor observances I like:

- In Super Mario Odyssey...
In Honeylune Ridge, Cat Mario and Cat Peach are found together on top of the cathedral near each other. A very nice touch to the wedding theme in this game.

- Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour's win/lose animations. Even after the characters' did their dances of victory or shame, there will be something extra they will do for Eagle/Double Bogey. For example, when Waluigi finished his Eagle pose, he found out that nobody's watching and then turn to the camera to pose. Another example is Mario's Double Bogey animation, where he will tap his finger on the ground after tripping.

- Although it's very likely to be unintentional on the developers' part, I like how the character selection screen in Mario Party 3 lists each character by their order of their debut: Mario (1981), Luigi (1983), Peach (1985), Daisy (1989), Yoshi (1990), Wario (1992), Modern Donkey Kong (1994), Waluigi (2000). Even when you remove Daisy and Waluigi (if you select Story Mode) the ordering still stands.

- Finally, there's the fact that the Mario cartoons consistently gave their main human characters Mario, Luigi and Princess five fingers. Some of the humans in Super Mario Bros. Super Show also have five fingers, but it should be noted that it differs between characters. Usually cartoons of this sort would give humans/anthropomorphs four fingers. In fact, Sonic's DIC cartoons gave every character (save for a few) four fingers, even though Sonic has five in his original version. I suspect this is either mandated by Nintendo or to keep it consistent with the live action portions.

Thank you for reading.

I like how the filenames for Baby Park-related files in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! are all called "BabyLuigi" rather than Baby Mario.

Take that Baby Mario! You can't get priority over everything, you big brother!

Oh, and something none of you probably noticed:

Baby Luigi's shoes are actually a slightly darker shade of green than his shirt and cap. It's not much noticeable, but after spending a long time working with him and seeing his textures, I can confirm it.

I like that Waluigi having mad CQC skills is a bizarelly consistent character trait

I want to poke baby luigi

Mario Golf World Tour does something similar for its corresponding animations.

- In Mario Party 9, 10 and Island Tour, Landing on a Bowser space will usually warps you to Bowser's little pocket dimension. However doing so on the last half of the final board in the respective games (except Island Tour where it does this on the final board in general) this changes to bringing you to where Bowser is on the board in 10 and Island Tour (in 9, he flies over in the Koopa Clown Car).

-Also, in one of the Mario Party games (I believe it was Bowser's Gnarly Party in Mario Party 4) I remember that, if you land on a Bowser Space near where Bowser is on the board, you can actually see him leap up into the air. Amiibo Party made a bit of a reference to that where, if somebody is playing as Bowser, Bowser's piece gets beamed up before dropping in the center.

When you kill a Charging Chuck, it plays the same sound as when the same thing happens in Super Mario World[/list]

I absolutely love the little dancing that some enemies do in the New series, mainly New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It adds a little flair to an otherwise cardboard platformer.

Yoshi shoes don't match the color of the Yoshi. And (in certain games) Yoshi shoes to Yoshi color series goes to all colors of the Yoshi in the game before going to the original one you started with.

I like how Yellow Yoshi's coloration is very similar to a Koopa Troopa. They probably did that on purpose.

Basically, all of the little details in this image.

More specifically, the vending machines, map, cafes, information booths and ticket machines.

Your image reminded me that I miss the "Congratulations" screens Double Dash and Wii had, especially the former and its character interactions.

The congratulations screens from Double Dash, DS, and Wii were awesome and should have never been ditched in 8.

I remember the first time I played in Toy Dream, there was a DK space on top of one the Cuckoo Clock, and in that game, DK makes a noise when you go over his space. So I thought DK was supposed to come out of the clocks when you passed over it. Like "CUCKOO, CUCKOO" then "BLEH-BLEH!!!"
