Kingdom Hearts is a pretty good series on the whole, so I doubt this will be a bad game.

You don't really need to know the plot. You can just play and read game guides as you go along. I should get this game too.

If I understand, this game was created to fill gaps between KH1 and 2. So I wouldn't really fully enjoy this game.
