It's weird. Controller worked perfectly when using it the first time, but the second time it did not respond at all! I tried pressing every single button more than once, but nothing worked.

It's a third party controller by the way, virtually identical to the original aside from being white. Not sure about how old it is but it supposedly worked perfectly before I bought it.

Did you try plugging it onto other ports?

Third party controllers tend to be cheap garbage so I wouldn't be surprised if it started malfunctioning on day two.

Not always, but yeah they aren't always reliable. I have two Wiimotes that must be at least 8 years old now each and they both still work great and hold a charge for ages. I bought a third party wiimote two or three years back and it never had a great battery life, the IR was dodgy, the buttons felt uncomfortable, and yeah it generally wasn't a great controller. It still works though aside from the IR not functioning correctly.

My brother and I also have an Xbox 360 controller that's maybe five years old? Yet I bought a third party one with a USB wire (mainly for Dolphin but by the end of its life I used it almost exclusively for Minecraft) this March and by December the A button was essentially stuck down and it would disconnect occasionally. Admittedly I could have kept with it for a while longer as one thing that motivated me to replace it was my intense hype for the PS4 controller which ended up still being great but kind of disappointing me, but that amount of wear in under a year when it's not even like I used it an hour a day, isn't great.
