Why does Mario still have his Italian accent

He's barely been in Italy throughout his life. No one in the Mushroom Kingdom even speaks Italian. I don't even know why he can speak the language so fluidly.
 
Maybe he was raised in a community with Italian speakers who have the accent? I mean, he had the accent as Baby Mario too.
 
Unless he were to be uncle Mario from Ass Creed 2, I don't think so. Who else speaks italian besides him and his brother there?
 
I guess he grew up in a section of Brooklyn with a lot of people who had come from Italy or whose parents had come from there.
 
You may as well ask why any of the characters speak the language they do. It's a moot point.
 
My headcanon is that the little Mushroom village where Mario and Luigi were raised in after the events of Yoshi's Island were prominently Italian speakers,
 
My dad's side of the family is Italian and I can assure you, it's not a normal Italian accent.

Also that seeming random gibberish he says in the M&L games are definitely not Italian.
