A good (not great) platformer bashed because of the comparison with it's predecessor instead of being judged on it's own merits.
Sure, the boss battles were pathetic, yes, the singing was grating and the story mode was too short. But the rest more than made up for it.
The music was excellent ('cept for the afromentioned) even though most of the songs were based on the same melody, the graphics have barely aged today thanks to the imaginative art and fluid animations. The levels were well designed with plenty of nook and cranny for those that actually spent the time to explore instead of eating every fruit in sight. It's not Yoshi's Island, but I take it any day over the mediocre nostalgia cash-in Yoshi's Island DS.
So yeah, discuss.
