I'll add all the games that are in the Super Mario series article in the wiki. I'll start with the Mario Bros. series, then there'll be the main series with other games scattered around and then there'll be reissues. Then there'll be the Wario Land series and the Yoshi's Island series. And in the end there will be Luigi Bros.. Then there's the Super Mario 64 series that's not what you think. The one that says "Famicom Mini: Super Mario Bros. The" is a port of SMBTLL that I couldn't write the name right.

Pikmin is part of the Mario franchise

all right who voted for yoshi's island so i can smack them in the head with a shovel made out of red coins

For me out of the main series it's Mario 3 or Mario World. It's hard to pick between them, because depending on the day I could go either way. Honorable mention to Mario 64 although it's not as timeless as the other two.

As someone who has extensively played EVERY Mario game for thousands of hours, I would have to pick a very controversial entry, Mario Calculator for the Nintendo DSi. There are many key reasons for this, but I couldn't possibly list them all, so here are the biggest ones.

  • Simply put, it is the best calculator I have ever used. There are so many options executed to perfection such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication. They even added a unit converter! I have seen too many calculators without options like that. Props to Nintendo for adding all of this despite all of the technical limitations!
  • The game's controls are extremely tight, precise, and responsive. When you press A, Mario jumps EXACTLY how you think he would. Crazy how they accomplished that on a DSi!
  • This game truly went all out with its secrets. You can see Princess Peach! I didn't even know that was a thing until I looked it up for this review! It's the small details like that which I adore.
  • I have never seen another game that looks this gorgeous. The graphics still hold up today! It's so beautiful I could stare at it for hours.
  • This game's OST is a BANGER. Every track in it absolutely SLAPS.
  • I have such heavy nostalgia for this game. This was my first ever Mario game, as the Nintendo DSi was my first console. I got it when I was five years old. This game was a core part of my childhood and I will always feel obligated to defend it because I can't be bothered to think critically for once in my life aaaaaaaaa

In conclusion, Mario Calculator is an underrated masterpiece, and if anyone tells you otherwise their opinion doesn't count. Nostalgia always wins.

this is the oddest list of Mario games i've ever seen. It somehow forgets the RPGs (as i'm used to at this point) but then... counts Pikmin games as Mario games??? Sir that is a whole separate franchise

I kinda is but Shigeru Miyamototo said that Super Mario 64 2 (SM128) is Pikmin so I thought all the mainline Pikmin games should be included.

I kinda is but Shigeru Miyamototo said that Super Mario 64 2 (SM128) is Pikmin so I thought all the mainline Pikmin games should be included.

Super Mario 128 has been initially believed to have been the foundation for Pikmin, as stated by Shigeru Miyamoto during his keynote speech at the 2007 Game Developers Conference. However, Pikmin programmer Yuji Kando would later state in 2023 that Super Mario 128 did not influence Pikmin in terms of planning and technology, as the team was not aware of its existence.

by that logic, Grand Theft Auto might as well have been part of the mainline Sonic series lmao
