what do you think about new super mario bros 2?

Practically the first Mario platformer that had me go, "you know what, maybe i don't need to play this" and entirely skipped it

I actually enjoyed it a lot myself, and thought the whole coin thing was okay, but it's definitely a lot weaker than the first two NSMB games, and possibly worse than NSMBU. I found it a fairly short game which would be one of my biggest complaints about it.

Oh man I need to play this game again! Back in early 2013 9-year old me really enjoyed playing this game. I even cleared the secret final world but didn't 100% the game. I remember listening to the Reznor battle theme nonstop and jumped when I first encountered Boohemoth.

Boohemoth is an abomination

I'd say what makes it especially not good is the DS's primitive 3D-yet-very-pixellated graphics. Honestly I always thought the OG DS's graphics were bad for the time it was made. Very dated. I mean the graphics make the games you play on it look like primitive late-90s PC games honestly.

Edit: Oh wait I'm sorry LOL. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is on the 3DS LOL. It doesn't have DS graphics. As far as my opinion on its gameplay I have none. Looks all right; I'm going to watch a playthrough of it sometime soon. Sorry I wasted your time, folks.

I would say NSMB2 is worth actually playing if you can afford it (it shouldn't be too expensive) rather than just watching a play through on YouTube

I watch playthroughs because I'm no good at these games LOL. Same with really hard and complex games like Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy (which I've never been able to beat and so have watched longplays). I'm struggling just at playing the Mario and Luigi games on the 3DS! Seems as an adult I've gotten worse at some games. SOME games-certain games. Other ones I had trouble with when I was younger I can now easily beat.

Also this Christmas I'll be getting all three OG Spyro games for PS1 and playing them on my PS2; wish me luck everyone.

This thread made me want to replay the game.

I fully understand why so many people are annoyed with it--it's extremely derivative, has a very limited amount of new concepts, and ultimately does not stand out as a 2D Mario platformer. I'm too tired right now to properly elaborate why, but it feels more like New Super Mario Bros. Wii Remix than a direct sequel to the DS game. However, the level design is excellent and the overall gameplay is addictive as heck. As has always been the case, I'm having enough fun with it to completely overlook the things it fails at.

Yeah I've noticed most other people are too; it has a ton of good reviews on Ebay and Amazon. It's a fun game. It's not perfect, but I guess it doesn't need to be.
