Hiya everyone! 2024 is almost over huh? Wow… I can't believe it myself.

We've all done some pretty awesome stuff this year, whether it was related to the Mario Wiki, The 'Shroom, awards, polls, etc. I've created this thread so we can all list our amazing accomplishments this year! You know, spreading positivity and ending 2024 on a high note.

For me, I became a patroller and eventually an administrator, started writing for The 'Shroom and helped out with two awards presentations! I even earned Gold Bowser, Peach and Toad awards this year! Additionally, I have joined the Mario Boards and Discord server, allowing me to connect with the community more efficiently.

EDIT: I also helped with coverage on Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Princess Peach: Showtime!, challenges for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and the "Donkey Kong Adventure" DLC and Mario & Luigi: Brothership!

So go on! Don't be shy! List away friends!

Let's see, I won the Diamond and Golden Bowser Awards as well as the Golden Toad Award in the End-of-the-Year Awards for The 'Shroom this year, and I also managed to get into the top three for Fake News Section of the Month for the first time since 2013 thanks to my Halloween collaboration on the Cooking Guide with Boo1268 and Anton. That's about all the significant accomplishments I managed to make for the Mario Wiki off the top of my head. Not a very long list, but eh, any accomplishment is an accomplishment nonetheless.

• TTYD, Kun, and Brothership coverage
• A bunch of proposals, including the foreign names citations one
• Became a patroller
• Also had that phase where I was adding infoboxes to a bunch of character articles (hmm many pages still need quotes, maybe something to look into for next year…)

Wow, it's officially been a full year since I joined the Boards...

My biggest accomplishments would be:

  • Joining the 'Shroom with Hint Art
  • Adding/fixing enemy tables for New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, Super Mario 3D World, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Adding images of Star Coin locations to New Super Mario Bros. U
  • Creating the missing lists of regional coins in Super Mario Odyssey

  • Seeing through another successful year of Awards alongside Roserade, LTQ, and Waluigi Time
  • Seeing to it that The 'Shroomhanded off into the good hands of Shoey and MK (with a campaign already ready for 2025, no less!)
    • Assisting with the large-scale Paper 'Shroom: Choose-Your-Own-Adventure project as a route writer.
    • Helping to see File City Files through to completion in Strategy Wing
  • Seeing MightyMario continue to have a successful run at Poll Committee chairperson and assisting with PC-related matters.
  • Participated in both the 2024 Scribble tournament and the Picture Pilgrimage
  • Created an article on the wiki for the first time
You can bet I'm pretty well pleased to see not only so many community projects humming along smoothly, but to be doing so with new faces taking the lead.

Most of my work in this community is facilitation of community engagement, and I feel that I worked pretty hard to make that happen this past year. There's the standard stuff, like continuing to organize the Fun Stuff team and working as a forum moderator, but I mostly think about the times when I was able to help others showcase their work and their commitment to this community. This comes through in another successful Awards season, where community members are able to give input and showcase their creative sides through our presentations. It also happened in Investigations 4, which closed out an arc for many players and gave users the stage to have some silly improv murder mystery fun with their scrimblos; and it happened in Mario Boards Mega Brawl 2, a roaring success and a more-than-exemplary follow-up to last year's MBMB that allowed community members to have even more fun with their characters!

Despite a lot of hiccups in my personal life this year, I feel pretty accomplished in bringing forward an energy of passion and spontaneity in this community that gives it the life I look for most.

Am I too late?

I guess there isn't one defining moment of 2024 for me as much as it is a whole bunch of them all at once. What I'd say my biggest accomplishment this year is almost doubling page creation total. I was at 8 before 2024 and with the last two pages I made on New Year's Eve, I reached a total of 15 created pages in this year alone. And that's not even getting into the redirects/images/categories I also made...

Probably the most impactful thing for us was the proposal that led to more-or-less a rework of proposal lengths, but participating in the Great "Give Media Descriptions" Frenzy Of December 2024 is definitely a highlight, tho that may be recency bias at play ;P
