Republication rights?

A signature Salmancer overthinking question. I assume the Shroom requires it's content to be original when published, but can a writer later republish their older Shroom articles separately, like on a personal blog? If so, is there a duration where the article must be Shroom exclusive?

On a related tact, excerpts. Would one be allowed to include an excerpt from their article in non-Super Mario Wiki spaces as promotional material?

The 'Shroom is a community project that is, for the most part, written and assembled "for fun" and is not a serious, professional publication. I highly doubt anyone here is claiming ownership of the material you submit for it.

Of course wait for someone from the 'Shroom staff to chime in and confirm this, but you should be allowed to do with your own content whatever you want, including redistributing it on your personal media spaces, regardless of when it was written.

You probably shouldn't reveal something BEFORE it is published in the newsletter, but even that is just a common courtesy thing, and not legally binding.

We've always worked on the principle that it's your work, so do what you want with it. Submitting your content to The 'Shroom doesn't prevent you from posting it elsewhere, and there's no exclusivity period. As Gabumon pointed out, it's courteous not to post the contents of your section elsewhere before the issue is released, but even if you did that wouldn't be grounds for rejection/removal or anything like that.

Semi-related, it's also okay to submit something that you've already made and posted elsewhere (i.e. you can post a drawing or story in the Fan Creations board and still submit it to the paper later), it doesn't have to be created specifically for The 'Shroom as long as it's your original work.
