From one of my Spanish videogame blogs, I've found something interesting. Miyamoto tells about his company and it seems they're developing a NEW hardware plus a new game (should not be Mario Galaxy 2 or the upcoming Zelda Wii). all this information comes from here http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/02/08/media_arts_festival/.

I may consider this official, as he himself said this, but sure it's my opinion... 8)

IIRC, there've been new consoles every five years since the N64, so I suppose it's about the right time. :3
