Consumer research polls on front page

Who is receiving the data from the consumer research polls on the front page (do you want to see more mobile games, should Nintendo do this or that, etc.?)

Thank you.

The poll results are received by the members of the Poll Committee, and are eventually put onto the linked page for anyone to view. We're not directly affiliated with Nintendo or anyone else though, the polls are just for fun and curiosity's sake.

The poll chairperson has access to all sorts of data as they are the ones who actually control the account.

So site leadership is now spontaneously asking about the frequency that site visitors encounter paid advertising from Nintendo…? With tiered categories of frequency of the sort you'd feed into a consumer-research spreadsheet to track advertising reach?

Forgive me, but that seems bizarre. That's not the sort of question that interests most fans. It's exactly the sort of question that a hired marketing firm would seek to answer, though.

Who exactly is pulling the trigger on these poll questions? Are you confident about their independence? I'm just thinking of the recent issue where a hired gun from McDonald's hijacked a wiki.

The polls are entirely run by the Poll Committee, you can see the list of members for the current term here. I can assure you that the committee has no affiliation with Nintendo or any other firm, it's solely a volunteer-based project run by a handful of community members.

1. Nintendo is more likely to seek that kind of data in social media or even their own venues, where the traffic is several magnitudes of magnitudes higher than some insular nerd site, even one as prominent and highly regarded as Mario Wiki.

2. McDonald's' Grimace had fallen out of collective consciousness by the time the Grimace Shake released and hijacking a popular fan site where people actually came into contact with the character was a pretty good move to bolster its attention. On the other hand, Mario doesn't need that kind of marketing, because he's Super Fucking Mario, not some side mascot who got phased out two decades ago.

Don't let these people fool you
They're all sell outs
Waluigi time has been in the pockets of Big N for years?
How do you think he afford his luxurious lifestyle? Certainly not shroom revenue!

I have a confession to make: I was paid off by Big Nintendo to astroturf interest in the Nintendo Switch game "Crazy Galaxy" on the Super Mario WIki and its twitter account. However, the game was cancelled and I am now destitute.
