Donkey Kong has been depicted with a revised design in the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer and recent promotional artwork. What do you think of it?
  • I like this design and I think it is better than his current design.
  • I like this design as much as his current design.
  • I think this design is okay, but I prefer his current design.
  • I do not like this design at all and think Nintendo should continue using his current design.
  • I do not like this design, but I support the idea of redesigning Donkey Kong in some other way.
  • I have not decided, and would like to see clearer footage of this design in a game first.
  • I have no opinion.
DK! DONKEY KONG!

New poll from @Waluigi Time!
Option 4 for me. It just feels so wrong to me, like how they redesigned King Dedede.

I like the design. If you flash back to the Nintendo Direct introducing it, it notes that it's paired with making DK more comical like the original premise for the character. And it does precisely that through exaggerating the muscles and changing the eye style. In swapping the single ridge over both eyes for two rounded ridges it brings DK's face closer to a human while still not being an exact match, which makes it easier to sympathize with DK. It definitely fits with the movie presenting him as more flawed than in video games where he isn't the protagonist so that he can have his own arc alongside Mario, and I don't think it strays so far from Donkey Kong that it can't be used elsewhere.

It's been five years since the reveal of the LEGO Super Mario line of sets. What would you most like to see from the toy line in the future?
  • More display sets (ex. The Mighty Bowser, Mario & Yoshi)
  • Introducing another electronic character figure
  • Minifigure-scale sets with minifigures instead of the electronic figure
  • More larger sets with interactive features (ex. Bowser's Airship, King Boo's Haunted Mansion)
  • More smaller sets with a designated area represented (ex. Mario's House & Yoshi, Guarded Fortress)
  • More sets themed around a spin-off of the Mario franchise (ex. Mario Kart, Donkey Kong)
  • I think the current sets are fine the way they are.
  • I don't play with or purchase LEGO Super Mario.
  • I have no opinion.

Big congratulations to @Paper Plumm for becoming the new Poll Chairperson!

(also sorry for the lateness and technical difficulties getting the poll up lol)

Aw man I voted More Display Sets despite not having any LEGO Super Mario sets myself.

The WarioWare series often emphasizes unconventional control schemes (tilting, touchscreens, motion controls, etc.). How do you feel about this approach?

-I'm a huge fan of the approach and wish other series in the Mario franchise would make more use of it.
-I like this approach a lot and hope the WarioWare series continues with it.
-I am okay with this approach and the level to which it is used in WarioWare.
-I am okay with this approach, but would like to see it mixed with more WarioWare games using conventional controls.
-I dislike this approach and wish WarioWare games would de-emphasize unconventional controls going forward.
-I am opposed to this approach and would like all unconventional control schemes removed from WarioWare.
-I have no opinion on this.

Final poll of the Fourteenth Poll Committee is here, crafted by @Hooded Pitohui!

Thank you all so much for supporting us and voting in our polls this term!

I have only played Smooth Moves and Gold, but I chose option 4 (I'm OK with the approach to unconventional controls, but I would like to see more conventional controls). Gold did great at balancing multiple control schemes and they all worked well, no issues that I'm aware of except for the terrible "Write on, dude!" microgame but it's more of a recognizing error than a human error.

Smooth Moves emphasized motion controls and unfortunately they don't respond well. It might've been the small play space but I heard the issues are for other people as well.

How do you feel about the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct and the games announced within?

-The Direct looked fantastic and I plan on getting a Switch 2 and some of its announced games.
-The Direct looks fine, but I do not plan on getting a Switch 2.
-I did not like the Direct, but I will still get a Nintendo Switch 2.
-I have not seen the Direct.
-I will get a Switch 2 and its exclusive games, but not for expansions of previous Switch games.
-I have no opinion.
-I will get a Switch 2, but only for enhancements/extra content for existing Switch games.
-The Direct was awful and I do not plan on getting a Nintendo Switch 2.

Alrighty, here is the very first poll of the 15th poll committee, lovingly crafted by @Tepig I hope you all enjoy this one!

I laughed at the price of the console, laughed at the price of the Welcome Tour thing, and laughed even harder at the game's prices.

Like hell I'm supporting those price gouging business practices. Not buying a Switch 2.

If there were more official in-person live events for the Super Mario franchise, which type would you most prefer?

-Concerts or other performances of music from the Mario franchise
-Conferences by game developers discussing how Mario games are made
-Competitive gaming events where players try to outdo each other in Mario games (e.g., by completing a level the fastest)
-Casual gaming events where players can freely play various Mario titles like Party, Kart, etc. together
-Conventions emphasizing sharing creative works (writing, art, cosplay etc.) themed around the Mario franchise
-Launch events or hands-on demos with games and systems featuring Mario
-I would prefer a live in-person event of a type not listed here.
-I do not want Mario-themed in-person live events at all.
-I have no opinion.

Keeping the poll flow going is today's poll which seems especially relevant given all the Switch 2 cons going on. Please give your regards to @Hooded Pitohui who made this amazing poll! Hope you enjoy!

This was a tough choice for me. I was deciding on either "Casual gaming events" or "Conventions emphasizing sharing creative works", but in the end I voted Conventions emphasizing sharing creative works (writing, art, cosplay etc.) themed around the Mario franchise.

Playing games with other people is common. Sharing creative works in a public area? That's rare! I like that!

That was my opinion too. It feels like outside of competitions there's not much of a showcase of what this community has to offer from Nintendo. And I'd like to think we're all pretty talented people and that a showcase would be worth it.

It's very tough for me to answer this question because crowds and cons aren't my thing at all, and I hate waiting in line. Out of these, concerts are probably the best one for me.
