    The internet hype for Majora's Mask made it near impossible for me to judge it fairly, I went in expecting like, something that can't be matched but I mostly felt frustrated in a bad way or just going "This is it?"

    I really couldn't shake off that a lot of them praising it for it's atmosphere instead of anything relating to gameplay, I don't outright hate it but the hype around it made me expect so much better so it was a bummer when I was far from wowed

    Zelda games tend to be appallingly overrated in general. Ocarina of Time, an okay game by today's standards, is perhaps the worst case. If anything, Zelda games should be appreciated for their historical significance and influence more than gameplay per se.

    It still irks me that people call games Breath of the Wild rip off when they see an open world with forests, ruins, and radio towers when these trends existed far before that game got dropped.

    @Redshift In certain ways, I agree. Calling, I dunno, Horizon Forbidden West a BoTW clone is nothing short of ridiculous. However, some games do ostensibly embrace an aesthetic reminiscent of BoTW. Take Everwild from Rare Ltd for example, or Genshin Impact. Surely BoTW has been a trendsetter in some regards.
