    Localisations often change names, occasionally for asinine reasons.

    The name "Melinda" is associated with things like "sweetness", "honey", and "honeybees" (the "mel" part), as well as "gentleness" and "tenderness" (the "linda" part).

    Isabelle is gentle, sweet, and (like honeybees) a hard worker, at least in New Leaf where she isn't getting drunk every morning. I assume that's why the name was picked.

    I have a crush on one of my friends from school but I'm not sure if I should tell him yet. Would it be better to spend more time with him or tell him I like him so he knows how I feel about him?

    The first is always better. You need to get more of a sense of if he's the type of person who would take it without ditching you, and while I can't say whether getting to know him better would help your chances, it at least wouldn't hurt them because at least he'd know you well when you told him.

    I came out to one of my teachers just now and she said she would start changing all my information to have my new name on it, I'm so happy. I can be as expressive as I want with my gender out here and it feels so much better.

    For context, my dormmate accidentally misgendered my other dormmate's girlfriend and the girlfriend responded by throwing something at him, which is just taking it way too far in my mind.
