LOL before I made an oak door for the front of it the zombies and skeletons used to come in and attack me, but now that I have a door I can shut it and it keeps all of them out. I made a couple of holes in the wall for windows. Fortunately they can't come in through those.

I'd put glass in for your windows or else skeletons can shoot inside and baby zombies can get inside.

@MiracleDinner I don't know how to craft those. Also, fortunately, I haven't had problems with either of those, maybe because of the copy I have (Minecraft Java Edition). Maybe in later versions they're more of a problem.

To get glass just mine sand (which you can find easily on shores, lakes, and deserts) and smelt it in a furnace? You do know how to use furnaces, right?

Yes, I play Java Edition and I get skeletons shooting through windows and baby zombies climbing through them so that should apply to you too, but you mention "maybe in later versions" - are you playing on the latest version of minecraft or did you select an older version? (If you aren't sure, it's probably the former, but you can check by pressing F3 and looking in the top left- the latest version of Minecraft is 1.21.3 I believe)
Knuckles The Echidna
Knuckles The Echidna
@MiracleDinner Yeah it's 1.21.3. How do I make windows? Where do I get glass?

Ok you guys so I got screenshots of both the interior and exterior of the house I built take a look:

Also @MiracleDinner I now have built a furnace since these screenshots were taken. Where do
I get glass from, or how do I make it? I'm sorry. I'm really new at all this. I've already learned how
to craft some things and done it successfully but I haven't made everything there is to make.

You can get glass by smelting sand blocks in the furnace.
Knuckles The Echidna
Knuckles The Echidna
@Waluigi Time Ok thanks. I need to find some sand blocks. I've seen plenty of sand on the beaches in my Minecraft world. I can get some there.

Also LOL I've died and respawned over 22 times.

Yeah, also @Wendy O. Koopa you might want to consider using Glass Panes instead of just Glass for your windows as it's more resource efficient and debatably looks better, to turn Glass into Glass panes open the crafting table and fill out the top and middle rows with Glass and leave the bottom row empty - so that's 6 glass blocks, and that gives you 16 Glass Panes.
Knuckles The Echidna
Knuckles The Echidna
@MiracleDinner Oh ok thanks! I have a "Sticky Notes" application on my computer. I think I'll post that on there along with Waluigi Time's advice on how to make glass earlier. Anyway, I'm gradually learning how to play this game bit by bit and I'm doing ok so far. Until I have actual glass windows or whatever I decided to get rid of the holes on each side of my house I was using for windows until I make some glass windows so nothing will be able to get in accidentally.

If you want a substitute for glass in the meantime you can make wooden trapdoors, not every type is see-through but you can open and close them at will.
Knuckles The Echidna
Knuckles The Echidna
@Waluigi Time Oh I can use those for windows? I actually didn't know LOL. I was like "those look like windows" but I thought they were only for the floor LOL. I'll be crafting some glass panes shortly.

Had to rebuild my house after a freaking Creeper blew itself up near it and partly destroyed it. Had to fill up the huge crater it made too LOL. It was MY fault actually-it was prowling around outside the house and I went to investigate and then it exploded.

Yeah, that's more or less the reason I put Creepers in the number 1 spot! You can mitigate the risk of this happening by making a lot of torches and putting them around your house to stop monsters from spawning. Potentially you could even build a perimeter around your house out of fences and place torches in the inside area to guarantee that mobs can never be inside your perimeter.
Knuckles The Echidna
Knuckles The Echidna
@MiracleDinner LOL what I probably should have done when those creepers got near my house is just NOT gone outside and just stayed inside my house until they went away. By the way I don't think I know what I'm doing with the whole "smelting glass" thing. I put sand in the furnace and waited for like a half hour and it still hasn't made glass yet. Did I do something wrong? Maybe the furnace needs an ignition source and doesn't come with one. I expected it to smelt it automatically but maybe there's something else I need to do first. I currently have 27 sand bricks in there.

You need a fuel source for the furnace to work, coal is ideal but you can also use wood items.
Knuckles The Echidna
Knuckles The Echidna
@Waluigi Time, Oh, I have coal! Do I put it in the furnace? 💡

Sorry I'm so new with all this LOL I got the game only four days ago. But yeah I've
already got some coal. I wonder if I'm supposed to put the coal in the bottom
square in the furnace? I notice the sand only fits in the top one.
Princess Zatanna
Princess Zatanna
Yes, you put coal in the bottom square. If you run out of coal, I'd recommend using Wooden Planks instead as they're a decently efficient and easy to get fuel source.

I tried it and it worked! Thanks everyone! No monsters will be able to get in through my windows now! 👍
