    The problem is that what the Amiibo does is a basic QOL improvement which the game should've have for all players. It's essentially putting a gameplay improvement, something which most remasters have to a degree, behind a large plastic paywall. Most Amiibos are harmless, using just giving cosmetic costumes or the most insignificant effects (such as in Bowser's Fury), so most don't care. Here, an actual gameplay improvement is being put behind this paywall; it's an actual problem.

    Also, a person isn't a "hater" because they offer criticism. We can't lose our ability to criticize; labelling any sort of actual criticism as "hating", "toxic" or "cancel culture", even when the criticism is actually constructive.

    random fact: there is no official release of Plastic Love that is eight minutes long. The version included in the album/single is five minutes, and the single includes a Club Edit/Remix that's nine minutes, but there is no release of the song that's eight minutes.

    using youtube music must be horrible, imagine only being able to listen to the music video for a song.

    my family has recently moved from spotify to youtube premuim (since dad wanted to watch ad-free youtube and there wasnt much financial sense in paying family subscriptions for two music services) and honestly, i like it just fine. in terms of official music releases and albums like you find on spotify, i'd say about 95% of the music i've listened to and saved on spotify is also there on youtube music, and that includes a very eclectic range of music, from old 80s songs to J-Pop/J-Rock and Vocaloid songs to obscure Christian indie bands to dumb internet songs like Fabulous Secret Powers and a whole bunch of stuff inbetween (like VGM) as well. From the stuff that's missing, about 4% can be compensated for by looking at the video uploads side of the service like you're referring to here (i.e. finding music videos or unofficial uploads by random people that slipped through the cracks), and I've found that also allows me to find a much bigger range than i would've had from spotify, including things like older, more obscure vgm vocal themes and pretty much anything that's on siivagunner, all from one app which also interconnects to youtube proper in a way that i found to be occasionally helpful while still being distant enough to not bother me when im just trying to watch videos (for example, when i like a video, any that are counted as music are put into a special "liked videos" playlist on youtube music, something i find a neat and useful feature). is it "better" than spotify? probably not, depending on your use case. discoverability works differently and is probably worse (i dont actually use the discoverability stuff for either service so i have no insight to offer there) and there's no spotify connect, so if those are important features its probably not for you, but for my particular use cases, i find that the trade-offs are minimal enough for this to be worthwhile to me

    anyway you might have made this as a joke post or something, but i thought i would offer some thoughts anyway because thats kind of something i just do! youtube music absolutely has lots of catching up to do in certain areas and is nowhere near as mature as a platform as it's contemporaries, but i think you could do a lot worse as well

    Idk if this applies to Youtube Music but for regular music you can look up "[artist name] - Topic" and it will bring up channels for the artist that either have the word Topic in the name or have a music symbol to denote that they're the official channel for that artist. These channels upload the original versions of songs (presumably with ads but I'll get back to that in a second). Here's an example of such an upload. If you look in the description, it will have copyright info of the record label saying that it is licensed and auto-generated by Youtube, which implies that these are official legal uploads.

    Furthermore, adblockers such as AdBlockPlus and UBlock Origin successfully block ads on Youtube. So to my understanding, the companies that own these songs allow them to be uploaded to Youtube because they can make revenue with ads, but if you use an adblocker than *poof!* they disappear and you can completely legally listen to ad-free music without paying for a subscription. This all feels like a massive loophole but you can be dang sure I'm gonna take advantage of it. (On a side-note, this is why I haven't used Spotify Premium despite technically having a subscription to it because my family uses my email to get a discount on Hulu through the Spotify/Hulu student discount offer.....)

    at least that's what I thought when I posted the original post, however, I recently figured that when checking an artists page, if you click the show all option on the song section, it will display all of these uploads, even the ones that get replaced by the music video on the album: https://music.youtube.com/browse/VLPLLFTOpTtEtzJM6i7W2Iyk45UxNFnmZ9Mb
    combine this with the composer, performer, and info included in the description, and these uploads can be actually be fairly valuable resource (especially for albums that don't have this info on sites such as Discogs or MusicBrainz).

    so yeah I take back what I said about YouTube music, it causes official uploads of songs to exist where there weren't any before (and in some cases uploads of the songs at all), and gives me important information on the music.
