Ah Melee. No Smash game reaches this level of technical skill or entertainment value. I got into competitive Melee around late 2013, early 2014 and even though my interest has risen and fallen since then at various points, Melee will always hold a special place among the Smash games for having...
So... this is the one Smash game I haven't really played. I've done a few matches but I've never really just sat down and played the game. That being said, I've always been fond of Link. He's never been my main but I've always found him fun, partly because I love the Zelda series so much.
I...
I personally think Smash just doesn't care for spin off material in general. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Ranger games get no content, and I highly doubt we'll see anything from Hyrule Warriors, which is a shame. HW Impa as a completely original fighter would be so cool.
The only real exceptions...
Re: NINTENDO NEWS THREAD (E3 Presentation Supposedly 45 Minutes Long)
This, plus the fact they still need to talk about their online service more, tells me we're in for a Direct in early September. Plus they need to show the rest of the 2018 line up.
I'd only want Dixie as an echo if she had a hair twirl up b, a bubblegum popgun, and distinct animations like Dark Samus.
I really really want Impa as a Sheik echo because I don't think she has a chance otherwise and I really want her in the game.
Isabelle is a big character and worthy of...
We also haven't seen Young Link's final smash yet. If it's Fierce Deity they could be saving it to reveal alongside Skull Kid.
Now watch them just give Young Link Triforce Slash.
I think Skull Kid has a lot going for him, even ignoring the background stuff which I think is Ridley in the clouds level of reaching.
1. He's popular. This is honestly the biggest thing. Every new character announced so far has been a big fan favorite. King K. Rool and Ridley are the most...
See the Toon Link comparison doesn't work because he was a vet. Captain Toad would be a newcomer. Why would Sakurai add Caotain Toad to a stage if he knew he was planning on making him playable.
I'm pretty sure we've seen the final stage total. Sakurai's language in the direct implies as such. And even if by some miracle we get more stages in the base game, I'm sure they'll all be new stages. There's no reason to hide old stages at this point. I could maybe see them hiding a Golden Sun...
Well maybe now that King K. Rool is in Smash he'll become more prominent. Not just in main Donkey Kong games but maybe in some Mario spin offs, like how Dixie used to appear in things.
In a perfect world we'd also be getting Dixie in Smash.
The "stage" with Rathalos is completely flat, has no other features, is really long, and has walk offs. Sounds like a boring stage. It's reminiscent of where you fought guys like Rayquaza in subspace. Look closely and you'll notice the same thing about Dracula. He appears in an area different...
Well Impa is the one who instructed Sheik. It would make sense for them to fight similarly. Plus Sheik's new final smash seems heavily Sheikah inspired in its aesthetic and is something I can totally see Impa doing.
Marth and Roy had no stage in Melee so it's not unheard of but nowadays I don't see that happening. And we know a FE stage was planned anyway.
Hence why all my newcomers in my prediction are from series with reps already.
Chrom and Dark Samus have shown that echoes don't have to be as 1 to 1 as we thought. Give her a hair spin up b, a bubblegum popgun, some throws using her hair, and use Diddy for the rest of the moveset, and bam you've got Dixie. Throw in unique animations like Dark samus has and she'd work.
Tapu Koko is a Pokemon from Sun and Moon. Verge claims the Gen VII rep is not Decidueye, Lycanroc, or Mimikyu. That last one's already been disconfirmed. Tapu Koko works well as a representation of the style and story of Sun and Moon.
Skull Kid has a lot going for him. Fan favorite, unique, and...
Yeah, this may seem ambitious, but I foresee four more unique characters and four more echoes. Bringing the total newcomer list to 8 unique and 8 echoes. Perfectly balanced, and also similar to Melee's newcomers. 8 original and 6 clones.
Here's my prediction:
Unique chaacters:
-Inkling...
I'm almost 100% satisfied with these returning stages. Pokefloats would have been fun for the meme, but I'll live.
I will say though some of the stages cut from Wii U are a bit odd. I would have thought Orbital Gate, Woolly World, and Jungle Hijinxs were locks.
Honestly with all veterans, Ridley and K. Rool in now, this roster is perfect for me. There's other characters I'd like but anyone else is just icing on the cake for me. Though Ashley and Captain Toad being out of the running now still sucks. I had high hopes for them.
I will say, the focus on...
I don't think these scenarios are comparable. Toon Link on the Spirit Train is a non interactable stage element. Waluigi is an assist that attacks you and can be attacked. I mean, the Little Mac assist was removed when he became playable, so we know Sakurai doesn't want overlap on that front...
Outside of the triforce holders, the only real reoccurring characters are Impa and Tingle. Sakurai seems to avoid one off characters who aren't the protagonist of their own game. The only exception I can think of is Sheik, and she started as part of Zelda's moveset. Tingle has been in five main...
