As much as I want him in, I don't think Paper Mario's going to make the cut this game. At this point his only chance is to be the "character from a new series" that wasn't in the full leak roster and represent the Paper series. ...but the leaker says that character is Mach Rider, so PM's...

The leaker apparently revealed that the roster shown isn't the full roster. He also said Mewtwo and Impa are in which gives Zelda and Pokémon 6 reps. Idk if I trust him outside of the screenshots though.

I think the difference is that if a veteran gets a move changed or something minor, it's easier to adapt to because the play style will still be similar. Clones often have major differences which affect the playstyle a lot despite having similar moves to the original character, for example...
