I feel like a lot of the time people want variety in these games as opposed to originality, confusing the two. Not to say there can't be both or that either are bad things to have, but Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam is a good example of this. In previous games, there were all kinds of friendly NPCs...
I mean Banjo-Kazooie is good and all but it was dormant for over a decade following Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts which (in the nicest way I can put it) wasn't exactly what the fans wanted out of the series. Banjo & Kazooie really only got in Smash because they were heavily requested in the ballot...
I am glad King K. Rool is back in the spotlight but I want him to return in the Donkey Kong Country series before he starts appearing in games like Mario Kart.
I feel like the items in Paper Mario should be improved upon, because after Chapter 1 the only items I ever use are ones that restore HP and FP outside of very situational scenarios.
On that note I think it's important to embrace what you like and are interested in regardless of what other people may think, and if you don't you're a coward.
Unless it's harmful shit of course, but that goes without saying.
When I was young and didn't know what time things released I thought that one episode in the Super Mario World cartoon where someone hits a block and a bunch of tiny Marios pop out was a reference to the Pal Pills in Super Paper Mario.
Maybe Birdo is indeed trans, I'm not too sure. But if her preferred gender is female then I think she should be referred to as female. The same goes for Vivian.
I see arguments all the time whenever she's brought up and I'm just sitting here like "Guys, it's so simple, if she wants to be female...
I mean they leave Coins strewn about the world for any average joe to collect if that says anything.
Their economy is either really bad or really, really good.
I liked how in New Super Mario Bros. DS the Warp Cannon levels hinted the type of world you're going to in the background, like in World 2's Warp Cannon you'd see snowy hills behind the sand and pyramids, or in World 5's you'd see purple stormy clouds behind the snowy trees.
idk about you but I'd be much more willing to take my chances if there were more unique characters available rather than just costume / recolor variants of existing ones.
It's still scummy but it's like a lesser of two evils situation imo
I legitimately hate how low-effort these costumes are. It's not like we don't have characters such as Baby Rosalina or Pink Gold Peach in console games who are variants of variants, but to charge money for them is highway robbery. Grinding isn't anything new in mobile games, but the problem is...
I can't really find it to hate any of the other stages since aside from PAC-LAND they all look aesthetically pleasing, and now with every stage having a Final Destination and Battlefield form I can enjoy those good aesthetics without having to worry about bad layouts. Like normally I hate Mario...
Aside from one episode in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 where he uses some gem to attain a bunch of power-ups at once, I wouldn't really call any of Bowser's forms / aliases in those cartoons as "power-ups".
I don't count Dry Bowser either.
All I'm aware of is Meowser, his Super Leaf form in Super Mario 3D World, and Metal Bowser in one of the Mario Party titles.
But it's hilarious to see mods of NSMB that make Bowser playable and use the Penguin Suit.
My tanking for TTYD's chapters go
3 (I like battling enemies and I really like they mystery aspect of it; it kinda means nothing now that I played the game multiple times but my initial experience with it is enough to warrant the top position)
6 (characters and dialogue are at their funniest...
I'd at least like to see picking up veggies from the ground come back. I feel there's some potential for fun gameplay that hasn't really been explored since.
I was thinking more along the lines of Goombas just having more HP at the start to compensate for you potentially leveling up attack power but this seems like a more fun idea.
We don't have Critical Hits in Paper Mario but honestly they'd fit right in. Like a 5 or 10% chance of a crit that...
I could get behind that, since boosting your attack power in the old games was locked to upgrades to your jump and hammer and the Power Plus badges. It'd be cool to be able to choose to deal more damage.
Enemy health may need to be scaled up to balance though, which would make challenge runs...
Now see, if Color Splash played something like this, then I could get behind it much more than what Sticker Star did. Another thing I'd do is add back Star Points and the level up system; ditch the HP upgrades you get at the end of chapters and ditch the Paint Scraps, and when you level up you...
For sure. Most pressing issue is easily the battle system, which even in Color Splash's attempt to fix it is still fundamentally broken and even ignores basic game design philosophies.
Can we get a Mario murder mystery that follows Mario series physics
Someone gets crushed by a Thwomp. It turns out the Thwomp was sleeping and he was pushed on top of the victim. Everyone is suspect. Detective Mario and his new Mushound (Mushroom Kingdom dog breed based on a bloodhound)...
I keep forgetting Smithy exists since he has almost zero role in the game aside from being the big bad and isn't seen until the last minute, which is a shame since he has a really cool design imo
With Paper Mario: Sticker Star and to a lesser extent its sequel, it's a whole lot of small problems that add up and snowball into what many call one of the worst games in the franchise, so if people actually liked other elements of the game I wouldn't be surprised if there were way fewer...
If Paper Mario does have a return to form I wouldn't be mad if they kept the redesigned enemies, like the Goombas, Koopas, Buzzy Beetles, Dry Bones, etc.
You might say that it wouldn't work because women have a different boxing league than men, but it's not like Punch-Out!! follows real-life boxing rules anyway.
I mean they let Aran Ryan bring a literal weapon into the ring.
Super Smash Kart: boring, tired, has the potential to be clunky
Super Nintendo Party: would require no changes to the formula, infinite board and item potential
In order:
- The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "Reptiles of the Rose Garden"
- Mario Tennis Aces
- Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix
- pretty sure this was one of the comics but can't remember off the top of my head
- one of the Mario & Sonic games held in the Winter, again can't...
I feel like the Switch is make or break for Paper Mario. Given how stellar the recent games have been, often the best in their series, now more than ever is the time for the series to go back to doing something that's fun and doesn't go against basic game design philosophies, be it returning to...
I mean, to each their own but I never found a problem with Mario & Luigi's gameplay "stagnating" like it did. The games always added a new gimmick like Bowser or the Dream World or Paper Mario to keep the combat fresh from previous entries, and the wildly different premises also helped. It's not...
They did mention that the levels people make in Super Mario Maker 2 were going to be used as a guideline for how the next 2D Mario game should be.
Which to me means we're going to get FAR less water levels.
Super Mario, a series full of wacky, colorful, and charming characters!
Anyway, here's Mario and Peach again.
EDIT: looking at the image harder it looks more like Penguin Luigi. Touche.
Dr. Fire Mario and Dr. Fire Peach perfectly summarizes why Dr. Mario World is one of the least grossing mobile games Nintendo has made. Grinding is nothing new to mobile games, but the fact there's nothing notable to grind to is the issue. And the fact almost all of the doctors are hard to...
This official Mario Kart Tour render where Red Yoshi's underside is accidentally colored red and it's passed as an official render summarizes Mario Kart Tour in a nutshell.
