Super Mario 3D Land

Pidgi.net?
Did you really get that from them?

Boomerang Flower!! Now if the make a Hammer Flower that would be um, strange

Leave it to Nintendo to recycle past ideas. Notice the number of Mushroom and Flower power-ups that we've seen lately?

^ A pretty nice remix of the original SMB theme they added there. :D

Also nice details. Boomerang Mario's moves look pretty awesome. Also Pun Pun's shell attack can fly?! That's something new. :???:

Is it just me, or does the sound effect for grabbing a Star Coin sound similar to one of the sound effects from Super Mario Galaxy. Maybe it's just my ears that are playing tricks.

It does sound similar. To be honest, I would not be at all surprised if Nintendo did that considering how similar the coins look in comparison to the Comet Medals from the SMG games.

I'm seeing now something about both a "2D" and "3D" mode. The box art, (which is way cool, BTW; looks like you can reach right in and touch things) even says 3D mode is for 7 and up only.
I take it this shot is an example 2D mode

So is 2D mode a separate game? (I don't see how you could play certain sections in 2D).

I too get the sense that that Luigi stone statue is either a state he is trapped in, or just a statue of him or something. (And not a playable aspect of Tanooki power).

And did anyone ever figure what the deal with the hat being off sometimes (since I'm still seeing this a lot in the screenshots).

Now, waiting until they start demonstrating the game at Nintendoworld! (It's not on their calendar for next month. It is still set for November, isn't it?)

2D in this case refers to levels such as the one pictured that have side-scrolling elements, whereas the 3D refers both to the stereoscopic effect produced by the 3DS and the gameplay mechanics found in games like Super Mario 64. Mario with the hat off is Small Mario, Mario's base form before obtaining a Mushroom or after taking a hit in Super Mario form. Nintendo's got the date set for November 13th.

This image here suggests that 2D and 3D are modes you choose, rather than the way particular levels are preformatted (That I was familiar with from SMG2).

Or is this stereoscopic effect what you can choose or not choose?

Ok, I see now. The 2D and 3D here just refer to the stereoscopic effect, which can be adjusted with the 3D depth slider.

I just wonder if Hammer Bros. and Fire Bros. are in it, I have seen nothing on them. Also I really hope a level with Giant things appear.

I think that people can know there is 2D mode, not 100% 3D

I could be mistaken, but I think that a note was added to the European package noting that the 3D could be turned off (and this was about one to two months ago).

I'm pretty sure Nintendo would include them. It would look great in 3D.
