Super Mario 3D Land

I just finished World 8, got all the Star Coins, and only missed 1 golden flagpole (which was on the final level since I ran out of Tanooki Suits and I can never time my jumps right to reach the top without them). I now have 2 Stars on my file. How many Stars can you get on a file and what are the requirements for each?

The stars are sparkling, right? Try longjumping as high up as you can if you reach the flagpole w/o a Tanooki suit

Because your boy Miyaomoto said so. I'm lucky I got the chance to meet him at E3 2005 he is REALLY hard to get to these days.
 
Super Mario 3D Land defiantly aint easy to beat, its a great game though.

and to evaluate on what I meant. After I beat Special8-Final Level, I got sent to World 8-Final Level, I had all 3 star coins in 8-Final Castle, so I went to get the rest of the star coins in special 8-3 and special 8-4, after that I checked my stars, I only had 2. Then I went to complete World 8-Final Level again, and I got a New Photo with Peach in a Tanooki suit and then there were 4 stars
 
Look, if there are 3 Star Coins in each level, then there aren't exactly 305 Star Coins. 305 isn't a multiple of 3.

Which is 285 star coins from Levels (95x3) and 20 star coins from Mystery Boxes

However I havn't gotten to Special8-Crown yet which may give me 3 more star coins, Im not sure the highest amount of star coins you can get.

Collect 285(?) Star Coins
1-up every flag

If you can only get additional Star Coins by having Streetpass, thats so gay, its like the less friends you have the less star coins you will get, but whats the point of getting star coins after you unlock everything?

Well that sucks if you have like 730 lives like I do, it would take me hours just to kill myself that many times. however, there probaly is an easier way
