The girl from Redfire/Leafgreen ic called Blue in the manga and ONLY in the manga (in the european and original japanese versions). I don't know why US changed the name...

They changed the name to match the games. In japan there were red/green versions.
They created blue for the US because green was a little "difficult"
thus, gary was green in japan and blue in the US.
That Girl was blue in japan and green in the US.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter. To me, there will never be a girl in the first generation at all, because that's the way it was in the games.

Someone might want to try to get this back on topic...
