Mario Kart 7

I'm surprised you didn't say Mario Kart 64. That was the easiest Rainbow Road in the Mario Kart series, due to its extensive railing and long length

Until you get hit by a Chain Chomp or item while the rubber banding AI drives away.

But LGM, we always had an easy time in Rainbow Road. We always looked forward to it

It's funny how Rainbow Road isn't the most difficult course. That award goes to Toad's Turnpike in Extra Mode

Rainbow Road is boring. I think I almost fell asleep when I raced on that stage.

Not if you tried to do the shortcut. I always tried when I was little.

Well I would say that but I have never played MK64 so I woudn't know

Really? How come? Its one of the best Mario Karts in the series.

This is mostly due to its fairness and lack of annoying items.

Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road is extremely easy when compared to the others. It's nearly impossible to fall off the track, and the only hazards are the Chain Chomps. The main thing that ruins the track though is that unacceptable shortcut.

If Nintendo ever reuses that track, the company better modify it so that that shortcut can't be done at all. In fact, one of the Mario Kart Wii track hacks that I saw has that incident all figured out...

I agree that the Rainbow Road of Mario Kart 64 could arguably be the franchise's easiest Rainbow Road stage. While it was extensive, the railings prevented anyone from falling most of the time (unless it was for that shortcut). It was just the amount of time driving through it that gave this course the name Rainbow Road. Don't get me wrong, I've always like MK64; however, I felt that the Rainbow Road was a little too simple in terms of the course layout. It was mostly just looking at the character images that appear in the background and the random chain chomp that amused me.

In my opinion, the hardest Rainbow Road that I've play was probably from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! This one had a lot of curves, and the fact that the karts move slightly due to your second character (a feeling of being slippery), it is quite easy to fall off during the midsection.

because the only game I have for the N64 is SM64

The AI and physics are very bad in Mario Kart 64.

The Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 64 was long, tedious, and boring.

Some things I didn't like about Mario Kart 64
  • AI Rubberband
  • No music in quad screen mode. Seriously, why can't that be a choice, not a necessity?
  • AI Rubberband
  • Very poor control
  • Battle mode existing only in multiplayer. Later Mario Karts give us the option to play against CPUS
  • Super long and easy Rainbow Road
  • Yoshi's Valley (actually my opinion of it)
  • Toad's Turnpike in Extra Mode
  • AI Rubberband
  • Little to no character variety other than weight classes. Basically, everyone uses the same kart

Mario Kart 64 is not a bad game, per se, but it gets compared WAY TOO OFTEN to the more recent Mario Karts.

I still want the majority of courses returning Mario Kart 64, though. The music and the course design for even Luigi Raceway is too nostalgic for me :)

What else are we supposed to compare it to?

Admittedly, I tend to let nostalgia get in the way of my judgment for Mario Kart 64, but it was in no way a bad game. The items were much more balanced in that game, and that is the main reason why I don't like to play Mario Kart Wii.

Did you guys forget about the Chain Chomp in Rainbow Road? That made the course more interesting.

Anyway, back on topic, Shy Guy is playable! As well as Luigi Raceway from the N64, so it seems, and a SNES Mario Circuit, as well as a Koopa Clown Car Kart, and a look at the effects of the Super Leaf.

And here are the screenshots to prove MCD's post:

For people in The Netherlands and Belgium, the European version will also include the Dutch language in both SM3DL and MK7 (Press Release from Nintendo Benelux).

Shy Guys car doesn't look customed much, so he may just be a Download play character. I hope not though. Shy Guy's cool

I want him to be fully playable not download play character
