No, the lesser of the evils is only a saying. I don't like any Koopalings, but I dislike Ludwig the least

How can you NOT like the Koopalings!? :'( :'( That is depressing !
The Koopalings are great villans. They should be the bosses in Super Mario 3D.

The Koopalings feel like uninspired bosses and they take little thought to create, being rip-offs of each other and bosses. Their boss fights are also boring and lame.

I like the Super Mario Bros. 2 bosses way more.

I'll give you that they have a way too crazy fanbase, but compared to Petey Piranha and Bowser Jr, they work well as bosses. Unlike the generic giant monsters, they seem to have personalities, and can work in some games (though they do get old).

Generic giant monsters still take more creativity and thought (and at least those "generic" monsters actually speak in their games) than generic underlings of Bowser

Yeah, do you guys seriously want to fight a koopa 7/8 times in a row? Wouldn't you prefer to fight a different species each time like in NSMBDS?

Just because the koopalings look unique, that doesn't mean they actually are unique.

The Koopaling boss fights are very boring in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Every single one of them takes about 3 hits to defeat, and every time you stomp on them (except for 2nd castle Iggy), all of them retreat in their shell and try to attack you. The only thing different is the environment and how Kamek makes things bigger.

Yeah, that's also why I prefer Jr. over the koopalings. He may not look unique, but his strategies he uses against Mario are different each time they meet.

Super Mario World?

And 7 characters which at least look somewhat different>one annoying and completely unoriginal character who manages to steal the spotlight in every game.

Still, I'd like to see the Koopalings get more personality, like in the show.

The only thing about Jr. that's unoriginal is his name and appearance. At least he knows to try a different method against Mario every time. The koopalings essentially just copy each other. When did Bowser ever use a spread graffiti (besides the original Mario Party's Eternal Star) or try to disguise himself as Mario? But, at least you were willing to admit they need more personality.

The magic paintbrush that came in one game and was never heard from again. In other games, he simply steals from Boom Boom's moveset (NSMB), is barely even fought in SMG (and never directly, just on giant airships or robots), and is just an easier version of SMW Bowser in NSMBW.

And yeah, the Koopalings' personality mostly comes from the shows and some guesswork--but so do the personalities of pretty much every character. With a few exceptions (TTYD, SPM), Mario games aren't all that deep. Mario doesn't even have a personality outside Super Mario RPG.

I guess Super Mario World is all right, except from the fact that a pair of Koopalings share the same attack pattern, sans Ludwig.

I don't really like any of them. They don't make a lasting impression in my memory.

I think that's a problem, considering that they're the children of the major villain of the series.

I still find them forgettable. They are just bland Koopas who live in castles where the level is 30 times more difficult than the boss fight.

Well, levels are usually more difficult than the boss fights.

Indeed. For instance, in SMW you had the Valley Fortress (extremely hard), and at the end you fought the not-so-horrible Reznor.

Totally agree with you on that one!! ;)

Most bosses in Mario Games are really easy. Levels in Mario Games can get very hard.

IMO, I never found the Valley Fortress too hard. But Reznor was a joke.
