Still means you owe me one favor for cheating me out of my victory.

Ah, so Tavros's death is now unavenged. Good story, 10/10.

But whatever's resulted from all the meddling can't be the proper alpha timeline anymore, at the very least because without sober Gamzee setting the Cherubs up with Trollian and the B2 kids, Calliope predominates and everything's a moot point then; Vriska being dead's also necessary for the furthest ring destruction quest and the finding of the ring of life,

I can see the other stuff happening, like the furthest ring destruction being impossible without Vriska, but would it necessarily prevent the ring of life from being found? IIRC, the rings, the other one whose name I forget, were important to stopping Caliborn so they would likely still need them. At the very least, it would prevent John from screwing up by taking the ring to reality allowing Aranea to take it. I mean, the ring is still lying around in Tavros's land so as long as he isn't brought back (sadly), he could still find it, but he wouldn't have anyone to give it to, I guess. That is, unless the only reason the ring is there is because if Hussie wants to pull some stupid shit like "the only reason the ring is there is because 'my character' wanted to give it to Vriska, but if Vriska isn't there, then there is not reason for the ring to exist here" or some other thing.

Of course, my brain has melted in a pudding with everything going on in the story so I'm probably remembering it wrong, like the rings being completely useless to stopping Caliborn or something.

my theory is that the stories that jade and jane are telling now are from what the "new" timeline is

which would explain why their john got killed off, because it was to make room for magic zappy john

I hope that doesn't mean Vriska becomes the mystery leader in Jane's story.

I thought she was, what with all the talk about luck and not accepting the verdict of paradox space.

I'm half-expecting it to be a red herring though.

What if it's thirteenth troll Larry, first mentioned in the booklet included with the Alternia album and first seen on this page of Paradox Space. It's mentioned in the booklet that his theme would be what a later album introduced as Horsechestra, so that's what Jane meant when she said it was "a real horse race again" and made all those other horse jokes. The thing about curtains closing early on them clearly refers to how in the original timeline, Larry died before he could be in any way involved with the SGRUB session.

Or maybe it's referring to Spades Slick, and the curtains closing early refers to how the Felt Intermission ended without a real resolution, and when we next see him there's a lot of unanswered questions like how he got that cyborg arm.

What if it's one of those two fan trolls that got into the comic because of kickstarter donations?

No wait, fuck. I should have known.

Clearly it's...

Fedorafreak

Man, it makes me feel old to realize that everything in the comic involving FedoraFreak happened before fedoras stopped being cool.

this whole story makes no sense anyway

john, a person who likes really cheesy old movies, would know that the first rule of time travel is to never talk to anyone

that's one plot hole that hussie can't retcon

That's not a plot hole though, it makes perfect sense.

John is an idiot who tends to not think things through. He probably knows that rule, but then acts before thinking about it. It's completely in line with his characterization.

^qft

Pretty sure it's Vriska, since then there's also the parallel with the other lucky Serket twin taking the Condesce by surprise and screwing up the first timeline. But who knows.

Larry is most likely because he's just a joke at this point and when has Andrew taken a joke and made it an actual plot point OH WAIT THAT'S HIS BREAD AND BUTTER

Now qft.

Although really come on John. Whyyyyy?

Unless maybe something good will come out of this instance and Terezi foresaw it idk.

So if John just saved Vriska from dying. Would the retcon make her dead self poof out from existence? And if she never died, John would never have found the house shaped retcon magic science juju...right? Unless the furthest ring takes into consideration these powers. By the way, the wallet was last seen with Aradia in a timeline sense, containing the crosbytop. But the CROSBYTOP was last seen with slick. So maybe the wallet's with him?
Seriously though Hussie, it's about time you elaborate on how these retcons work.

I doubt that. If the retconning deleted things that shouldn't exist anymore, John's scarf would have probably dissolved somewhere halfway through his shenanigans.

Then again this whole thing doesn't make a lick of sense anyway. I've kind of developed a "don't care anymore" attitude towards this retcon shit.

I just wish John would have alchemized a DeLorean before going on his retcon quest.

what the hell i did the research and that thirteenth troll in paradox space wasn't even larry

seriously considering ragequitting homestuck over here you guys

Technically, "Larry" doesn't fit the naming scheme anyway - it'd have to be Larrry or Larrey or something.

But speaking of Paradox Space, dat Labyrinth shoutout in the latest panel - so much lulz.

I'm still hoping it'll turn out to be a variant on the stable loop version of timetravel with the meddled offshoot merely providing backup characters for all the dead people, since the idea that all those things could be changed without making John's mere existence in the past impossible is increasingly bogus. The puzzle-plot time shenanigan writing was so smart until this point, I dun wanna be disappointed by yet another sci-fi falling for the siren song of sloppy change-the-past-and-ignore-the-impossibleness time travel - and so late in the game, too.

I went and re-read the booklet so I could prove to you that some rules in Homestuck were made to be broken (when Jade was introduced, she broke a lot of rules the other kids followed before if you'll recall), and it turns out he was the fourteenth, not the thirteenth. But yeah, here's every mention of him in the Alternia album, courtesy of Radiation who Andrew sometimes tells secrets to.

If you still don't believe me buy the damn album. He's official okay.

But Karkat still said there used to be thirteen in Paradox Space. That means Larry fits the description of "an intrepid soul who was not about to take the verdict of paradox space lying down" even better. This is a troll who in Jane and Jade's timeline fought against the most powerful force in the Homestuck multiverse and won, claiming his very existence as his prize. Presumably in the original timeline, the meteor carrying his paradox clone was thrown off course, most likely by Lord English, who is rightfully terrified of him.

upd8 edit: darn it i thought solluxander was going to say miracles. speaking of which i wonder how safe they actually are with gamzee just tied up like that.

paradox space edit: Dave's armor is super sweet and needs to find its way into the main comic somehow. All that's missing is for the cape to be able to turn into Davesprite-like wings.

No Kanaya, it's ok. I understand everything perfectly.

It's a huge clusterfuck.

KARKAT: I'VE ALREADY GOT MINE! IT'S THE FIRST NUMBER THERE IS. AN ANGRY, TREMBLING DIGIT, TOWERING AND ERECT, POINTING DIRECTLY AT THE TRASHFACED KINGPIN OF INEXPLICABLE HORSESHIT HIMSELF, *GOD*!!!!!
i miss this karkat
