It does sound kinda like the same sort of thing, though.

I mean, it has to keep internet connection still, right? Presumably it could do the same with cell networks.

The effects may differ, but the cause is the same thing. To play the game efficiently, it is essential to be able to communicate with your co-players. The game therefore provides you with the means to do so, because, as Bulbasaur implied, dealing with a loss of connection to the other players is not intended to be a challenge of the game.

That is, unless you are directly responsible for the loss of connection by being a tool and losing your communication devices. Though you'd have to be kind of John dumb to do that.
 
Wouldn't it be something like 'Nepfefsprite' or 'Fefnepsprite' considering the currently established naming scheme - 'Tavrisprite'; 'Erisolsprite'.

If you go by that logic, then there's also John's corpse on his quest bed, Jade's corpse on her quest bed, and Rose's corpse from when she was grimdark and murdered by Jack. Oh yeah, and Dave might also still be lying around somewhere on LOFAF. Not to mention Jake's dead dreamself, and Jane and Roxy's bodies, and...

You know what, this is getting silly.

I guess I'm saying that because Dirk's body is the only decapitated one? But I guess it's easy for Gamzee to just decapitate the shit out of the others. I dunno I just want an Equidirksprite :'(
