Who caused the koopalings to dissapear?

Why they would want to erase interesting colorful characters like the 7 koopalings and replace it with a single bland character like Bowser Jr. is absurd. How cool would it had been to have fought the koopalings in Super Mario Galaxy?


and I find it interesting that in their last Appearace, Mario&LuigiSuperStarSage, they were fought, but were really easy and had no dialouge!
