If you have noticed the Mario games have been getting darker and darker. Don't you think that too? What? You don't? Really? Well let's see here...

Don't you think that an evil with (Cackletta) forcing the Queen (Queen Bean) to eat a worm that makes her evil, sound dark? What about destroying a city?

What about Cackletta turning some helpless Bean guys into Electric-Snifits and since Mario and Luigi can't help them, they have to kill them? You even get to see a Bean turning evil and dying!

What about Cackletta Possesing Bowser and turning him into...a he...a she...an it! A Bowletta! And Bwoletta is so gender confusing! Is it a boy or a girl?

This game has some dark stuff. Like a 1000 year old demon grabbing a town and taking it deep underground...and the witch turning three heroes into demons (the Black Chest Demons).

What about the Robbo Gang? Don Pianta? Gansters? Oh my!

And Twilight Town...a dark place...it seems so sad, however the Twilighters seem to like the place.

What about Ghost T. possesing the train guy so he can write an E-Mail to Mario? And the Shadow Queen who is a 1000 year old demon that when she woke up again the whole worl turned dark and started shaking. Then the Shadow Queen possesed Peach turning Peach evil. And Mario had to fight her! Oh my gosh!

So the Shroobs destroy the whole Mushroom Kingdom, suck up all of the Toad's vim (which is like blood to them), and kill many Toads. Many Toads died and uhh....ok so many sad things happened, ok?

And let's not forget Super Smash Bros. series where Mario and his friends use guns but...ah, the events of those games is just like they didn't happen.

So isn't the Mario series getting dark? Will we someday see a game with Mario using guns (unlike SSB, we will see actual blood)?

I hope so not.

SWEET JESUS Miyamoto must be goth to think up these things.

What kind of normal person would come up with realistic monsters and ghosts anyway!?


P.S. you do know that various ghosts, undead, and spirit creatures have been around since SMB3 right?

Super Paper Mario looks very cutesy and happy. I doubt it.
 
Notice that all those games are RPGS. Super Mario RPG was also very dark, especially at the very end. RPGs in general focus on great storylines, and storylines wouldn't be very interesting if some darkness wasn't thrown in.
 
Anybody else notice that when [mwiki]Big Guy the Stilted[/mwiki] is beaten all the Shy Guys inside of him end up taking a lava bath. A little dark for a Yoshi.
 
Well People die. It happens, and although it is getting a little dark, it stays hilarious all the same. PMTTYD is the most dark, what with DEMONS, gangs, and whatnot.+
 
Like SoS said. RPGs! Would you rather it be all nice and friendly all the time? You notice the dark things, but you don't pay any attention to the "happy" things like Petalburg and such because it is what you perceive as "normal".
 
Dark? that stuff is so not dark! Though killing Toads are, waaaaaaa.

But, one very dark mario Game is Mario party! Buring people's butts, beaten up by chain Chomps, and, worse of all, Falling into an Avalanche!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
The Mario series isn't getting darker. Evil things have been around since the start and before the RPG's. To name a few...

1. Creatures falling into pits of lava
2. Boos ( technically demons really )
3. Bullet Bills and Missle Bills and Bob-ombs
4. Throwing fireballs
5. Undead creatures ( Dry Bones, Fish Bones, various ghost species )
6. Spiked pillars and stones crushing and goring you to death ( Super Mario World thank you very much )
7. Oh yea, plus the fat saw blades and spiked maces in the castles and chainsaws on the Twin Bridges
8. The creatures that throw knives/spears/swords/hammers
9. Throwing Bowser into spiked bombs
10. DIEING

Oh for Thor's sake YOSHI'S STORY had dark elements in it!!!

This thread is so pointless can it be locked or something? Everybody knows that Mario is never going to use guns, the only Mario game rated T was Smash Melee and that wasn't even a real mario game!

MARIO USES GUNS IN GAMES OTHER THAN SMASH BROS! HA~
