The Official Pokémon Anime and Movie Thread

Watch episode 9. At 4:22, you'll figure out why I like Clemont.

(Insert Clemont freaking out from 4:22 scene here)

OK, honest question, has there been a Pokemon movie that was actually good? Ever?

I realised just recently that, although the Pokemon movies are clearly cash-grabs, they're not as bad as other merchandise-driven shows, because the new Pokemon that the movies exist to show off are catchable IN GAME. It's not like they're Pokemon you have to pay for.

One thing that the Pokémon movies have compared the the anime: great graphics. Like, the anime never have looked better in the movies. I think the original three were the best (third being my favorite), and after that, it's kind of hit or miss. And as they go on, I think they get much more miss. Like this Genesect one. Mewtwo fails so much it's hard to look past anything that might be good.

The graphics and Pokemon are the best thing about the movies.

Watching Gen-1 TV series...

Ash: YAY I CAUGHT A PIDGEY HERP DERP
Team Rocket: Oh good for you. We're going to kill it now.
(Meowth opens Pidgey's Pokeball and kills it)

Did you like how true it was to the game? That's what I liked most about it.
I liked how it didn't have the new Pokémon confirmed, and how it was true to the game for the most part, but I didn't like the inclusion of Mega Evolution for the reason of it not existing in the first games.

Yeah, true. Although that was in like the last 5-10 minutes of the series. I'm pretty sure the inclusion of that was for promotion and hype of XY.

Guys guys what do you think of this?

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/22/check-out-these-hyper-realistic-pokemon

My thoughts
While it would be a much more realistic approach, Pokemon is a kids show. This seems kinda traumatizing if you ask me, atleast for kids. The goal of Pokemon is to be as cute and harmless as possible to get kids to watch. Where as this has a deer ripped in half in one pick. Am I the only one who thinks thats odd?

Further more if they were to make realistic pokemon they should go with smoother and furrier designs, not rough skin.I also think Pokemon this big would take up alot of space and waste money on effects. They should actually stick with the game data. So in general yea this is pretty UNREALISTIC for Pokemon if you ask me.

I did the smashgoom there.

LOL, you did not do a Smashgoom. But it is funny you thought you did.

Um, they do look cool, but it doesn't go right with Pokémon. And man, animating those would be a pain in the butt.
Basically what I said. The real smash goom would've beat that by about 5 paragraphs.

Why haven't they made a live action Pokemon Movie yet. They have the time to turn Mewtwo into a girl but not the time for a live action Dragon Ball Movie?

Live action Pokémon movie? IMO, that sounds terrible. It would require so much CGI, it would be ridiculous. I can' tweet it looking good.
They did Transformer, Mutant Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Last Airbender, Avatar, and...Avengers. But Pokemon would be to much CGI? There are 30 Godzilla movies. The majority of which use cgi!
