Wreck-it Ralph

Well, that's what Felix's hammer does... It's part of what makes his game work. Although, to be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing the origins of his hammer... After all, he is Fix-It Felix JR. Maybe there's a Sr. around...

I have a theory that Calhoun's first fiance is actally Felix's father.

well they looked alike (I thought so too) but other than that what's the evidence?

A. Felix saying "you're one dynamite gal" triggered Calhoun's flashback.
B. Felix and Calhoun falling for each other overall.

Wait... Would that mean that Hero's Duty is some kind of prequel to Fix-It Felix Jr.? Or that the original Fix-It Felix game-jumped? Well that can't be it, because the tragic backstory was part of Calhoun's programming...

No, I have nothing against the hammer, but I just don't get why he didn't fix Vanellope with it.

Hers was a coding problem, not an in-game physical issue: Felix fixes stuff that's broken in-game (regardless of which game), but coding issues need to be fixed by going into the base code itself and mucking about (or resetting the program, but that's still not an in-game solution).

Also, while angrily muttering to himself at one point, Ralph does mention that Felix got his "magic hammer" from his father (I forget if he said "given" or "inherited", tho). That could just be programmed backstory like Calhoun's fiance, or the existence of a Fix-It, Felix game about Felix Sr. could have been left unexplored to free up sequel possibilities (this film's theme was all about "you are who you are", so a sequel could be about knowing where you come from - beyond the coding, thus further exploring the "become more than your programming" idea).

Maybe the fixing qualities only go so far. Vanellope's problems go down to the very code that makes the game. Who's to say the hammer can't fix what's inherently broken to begin with... Not to mention, I feel like she SHOULD have been fixed when she crossed the finish line.

Saw this movie today,it was epic.

Turbo Tastic! :)

Seen it and it was awesome.
Major spoilers ahead. Do not read unless you have seen it.
i had no idea that the king was Turbo. I also liked the part where Van called Ralf GLaDOS.

I kind of suspected the king was bad from the begining but I didn't realize it was Turbo either,BTW I think my favorite reference in the movie was That NES controler.

Well, I just went to see it. Really enjoyed it.

My thoughts are in the spoiler:

I really liked all those subtle references (the Exclamation Mark from Metal Gear and King Candy puts in the Konami Code in the NES controller to access his database) and all the characters from old, forgotten games that made cameos. I nerdgasmed when I saw Tapper and Q*bert, I remember playing those on a CD when I was little.

I just kinda wish they visited other games though...They were in Sugar Rush for the majority of the movie, I wish we saw Ralph visit some other series (He does in the credits but not the actual movie), but the licensing fees probably would have been through the roof.

EDIT: Oh, and I also thought it was really neat the way certain characters moved really choppily, such as the Nicelanders in Fix-It Felix.

I'm seein' it tomorrow.
