Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II

I'm suprised they didn't base a level on Carnival Night Zone

They kinda already did that in Sonic 4: Episode 1 didn't they?

No, that stage was based off of Casino Night. The only thing that Casino Street had in common with Carnival Night (aside from the bumpers) was the cannon gimmick in Act 3.

Honestly, I don't think this game looks a hundred percent different from Episode I, but at the same time, it does look as if there were some slight improvements made to the engine, just as Ken Balough said. Sonic no longer uncurls while going off of ramps, the Spin Dash actually has some power/momentum, etc.

Ah damn, it turns out you can't play as only Tails in the game. That's not really too much of a problem but you can't even have Tails as the playable and Sonic as the CPU. The only way to play as Tails is to be the 2nd player in 2-player mode. Seems the co-op system is a really important part of the game. So much so that the game requires you to have Sonic and Tails. I'm a little concerned about that.

But I'll be happy if Tails is given competent AI at least.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Thanks for completely disregarding those who don't have any one to play with and would actually like to explore, Sega. :(.

I think they should bring back Sonic 3's Bonus Stage so we can get shields easier. (That is, if they do have them.)

Also, since they're trying to make Sonic have an Adventure feel (adding the Homing Attack), I think they should also add the ability to Spin Dash by only pressing a single button, of course, also including the classic crouch, hold button, let go control scheme for those who prefer it that way.

Apparently, the Red Rings from Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations are going to be in the game, indicating that there's unlockable content. Hopefully, it won't just be an art gallery, or anything like that. Although, the Achievements List hints at the possibility of their purpose being to unlock a secret final boss battle, kind of like The Doomsday Zone in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

It also says that it's now possible to fight bosses as Super Sonic, which was impossible in Episode I, due to the boss stages being entirely separate stages from Act 3, and had such a low ring supply which was nowhere near the fifty rings that were required to go super.

On a sidenote, there's a stage in the game called "Sky Fortress", which was the beta name of the Wing Fortress Zone in Sonic 2. I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't a coincidence, since they did the same thing in Sonic Advance by naming a stage "Neo Green Hill" (which was Aquatic Ruin's beta name).

The music for Sylvania Castle Act 1 has finally been revealed:

The "Lock-On Technology" from Sonic & Knuckles has been confirmed. If you have both Episode I and II downloaded, then a "Metal Sonic Episode" will be unlocked, meaning that he'll be playable in the first episode.
I'd better save up some money to get both episodes now. I hope there will be more than just Metal Sonic being playable, like an option to also play as Tails with his moves from the classic games.

I'm really dispointed by the fact I'm missing out on so much sonic. :'(

Have you considered getting the PC versions?

Anyway, here's a Youtube'd version of the above video:

There are also some new screenshots for both Episode II and Episode Metal.

This screenshot in particular shows that Episode Metal will be using the improved physics engine from Episode II (since Sonic would normally uncurl after using the spindash off a ledge in the original).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that he and Robotnik are on the same side.

Looks like getting this lock on game will be harder than I thought. I have 50 MS points right now, and only 1500 point cards are available here. So...
  • Sonic 4 Episode 2: 800 = 750
  • SADX DLC: 400 = 350
  • Sonic Unleashed DLC = 250
That leaves me with 100 points... I'll have to either buy another card or use a credit card.
