remain neutral as in "I'm going to try to stop them from fighting" or as in "I'm not going to do anything"?

this will be an interesting episode.

That was cool. Really liking the Tenzin/Bumi/Kya scenes. What happened to Ikki? And holy shit, Civil War is starting. The twins were funny as always. Where's Asami though? Also, my fucking DVR cut off the last little bit so I didn't see who entered the room at the end.

meh

first of all they're trying to make it too climactic for the second (third?) episode of the season, makes it pretty much impossible to evoke an emotional response from me

not to mention the episodes are starting to feel all same-y

I liked it better without the ending twist. It seemed like it really was going to be a "neither brother's wrong" situation, with Unalaq and the father turning out to be reasonable guys, but then NOPE! Hopefully the trial will clear the parents' names and there can still be some reconciliation for the family.

On the positive side, Bolin's parts continue to amuse. I quite liked the leech metaphor.

well I'm pretty sure it was confirmed that Unulaq is evil when he tried to convince Korra to open the Northern spirit portal

i mean come on, magical portal that leads people immediately across the world? armies? hello? korra? brain to korra? are you there brain?

I thought it was great

Aang apparently had a bit of favoritism towards Tenzin? That's quite interesting actually. Sometimes families do have problems like this, and to see even Aang later showed a little too much for one child simply because he wanted Airbenders to have a chance of returning eventually. Also really liking Bumi here.

And I'm liking the whole Civil War route actually. Especially given that the roots of it happened even before Korra was born. I can't wait until Part 2 of this two-parter to see what happens. I think so far it's already alot more interesting then the first season was in the first three episodes.

Also I like the theme that kinda play for tension rising and or perhaps "Evil NWT" theme that played at the beginning with the soldiers marching and when Korra's parents are arrested for Conspiracy to assassinating Unalaq.

It pains me to find out that Aang was a bad father. :(
But if he was perfect character, he'd be boring. Make him actually have a couple of flaws and not be a Gary Stu. I have no doubt that Aang was under pressure because this was the only Airbender left besides himself and was a little careless. He didn't try to ignore Bumi and Kya, he was just ecstatic that ther was finally another Airbender.

Yeah, I really liked that whole revelation about Aang. And how Bumi always wanted to prove he could do things even though he was a non-bender. No wonder he joined the army. Someone would have a massive inferiority complex.

I always assumed Tenzin would get favouritism considering he's the only airbender. After all, technically, he's the only important one to letting the airbenders survive. On a random point, I always assumed they wouldn't have tattoos because Aang didn't know exactly how to do it, but that's just comparing it to my old ideas before Korra came out.

I do like how Korra doesn't know what side to be on. She has the responsibility of being the Avatar, but she doesn't know what exactly the Avatar should be preaching in a situation like this. This is the stuff I was interested in. It adds a lot of depth to the Avatar universe.

I don't really like Varrick, though. He's annoying. And a nitpick from last episode: if they already have radios, they would definitely have movies. Movies came BEFORE radios. Heck, they had talking movies in the 1920's!

i see no reason to imagine that bending can never skip a generation

also, the real-world order in which technologies are developed really has no bearing on the order in which they should be expected to develop in this fictional setting...

I personally quite enjoy both ATLA and LoK- I unashamedly take a lot of stylistic influences from the things I enjoy, and if you haven't gotten a few Avatar vibes when reading something of mine, you should probably look a bit more carefully.

While I have my negative opinions about the romance, I think Korra's a good character, and seeing Mako and Bolin interact is always enjoyable. I'm completely caught up as of now, and about recent events

I don't really think Unalaq is evil. I kind of doubt the writers would make this situation so black and white.

Although these ARE the same people who wrote Fire Lord Ozai, the guy who burned his son's face to teach him a lesson about respect.

Part 2 of "Civil Wars" is on tonight ^^

Civil Wars, Part 2

Description: Korra must fight for her parents' freedom when they are wrongfully arrested.

I sure hope someone picks up that phone. Because I fucking called it! Yeah, no surprise that Unalaq set the whole thing up. As for the Tenzin/Bumi/Kya storyline, it was nice to see Tenzin relating to Ikki. I really liked the part whee Bumi was talking to Aang's statue. It's good to see Asami again. The platypus bear stuff was funny and ai burst out laughing when bolin appeared dressed in his new clothes. Also, that ending scared me. Eska is pissed.

Varrick is the best fucking character in the Avatarverse.
I was going to argue with you about this, but then I saw the episode and changed my mind.

Civil Wars, Part 2
Hm...interesting. Unalaq did seem obviously evil. I mean, you knew her father wasn't evil, and there needed to be a villain. I kinda wish he didn't set up her father's banishment, though. It seems so cliche.

And where do the spirits fit in with this, again? I think my problem with Series 2 so far is I have no idea what the overarching arc is. Is the entire season going to be about the water tribes? Because it seems like it won't take long for it to be resolved now that the Avatar knows what's going on. And, for a book that's titled "spirits", we haven't exactly learnt that much about spirits. We know they don't like the Southern Water Tribe because...they're modernised?

Also, when is the Bolin/Eska thing going to resolve? I think they're dragging it out a bit too much.

I also don't really understand Varrick's motivations behind this. If he's a businessman, would he really be so 'patriotic' to his tribe to try and help it this much? It would be interesting if Varrick did have some ulterior, business-related motive to helping the Southern Water Tribe.

Overall, still good episode, I just feel like there's no real focus for this season right now.

why

why shouldn't you be able to know what our "heroes" are actually fighting for

They're trying to deal with the dark spirits. Unalaq is a side problem. I'm not saying the problem is minor, he's obviously evil, but he's not the big bad. It's obvious the main characters will need to go into the spirit world to restore balance. What they do in the spirit world is the mystery I'm looking forward to.
