For most of the game, Miriel, Henry, Ricken, Vaike, Sully, Panne, and Virion were benched. Virion was pretty much the only one I never bothered to use.

I never really used Vaike, Miriel, Stahl, Libra, or Henry in my first few playthroughs either. For Miriel, even though she has high magic, she has horrible defense and pretty much dies three turns into the battle, so I stuck with Ricken, who I like better anyways. Stahl was benched because of Sully and Virion (Bow Knight).

o_o

What were you doing with her?

Miriel sucks.

Basically, IMO, just pick and choose between Tharja and Henry. Miriel and Ricken are just there to use temporarily lol.

And I always had Virion paired with Sully so he was more protected. He's was great then!

Also Libra get's no love. <3

that's why you have to PROTECT HER WITH YOUR OTHER UNITS

omg no miriel has always been one of my best units in every playthrough

she's not quite as good as, say, lute from fe8, but she's pretty good

Pretty much this. Mages aren't supposed to be out in the open. If you know how to cover your own ass well enough, she'll never be in a potentially lethal situation.

Obviousy, Lute is amazing :P

But I guess I just never bothered training her, so therefore I didn't really care for her.

Yeah I get that I just found Tharja and Henry to be superior over Miriel and Ricken by the time I had gotten all of them, and I didn't really need all of them.

HOLY FRIGGIN BLEEP!!!!!

I cannot express how much I truly love the game right now.

Only a little bit in, but I just...I am in love with Fire Emblem!!!! Why the hell have I never played the series yet!?

That is an excellent question.

So I just got the game (playing on Classic and Hard) and for some reason, I'm getting REALLY lucky with the criticals (with a 1% chance in one case) and level ups, the latter where I keep getting 4-5 stat ups per level.

And I feel really bad for not getting this game sooner, it's amazing.

By the way, BMB, it's a good idea to use your healers as much as possible, even when it's unnecessary and the units are only healed by 1 or 2 HP. Still the same amount of experience, I believe.

I actually have no needed the healer at all yet, but I'm not very far in the game yet.
You should still use the healer anyway because leveling her will give her a whole range of staffs to use. It will help later on.

I remember during my playthrough I somehow ended up with four different healers in my main army.

...

Good times.

Oh, and I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone say this already, but BMB, you should try to avoid using Frederick (at least for a while), although he's powerful and all, he eats up EXP that the other, weaker units need and could use.

Lissa is the first healer they give you, so naturally I leveled her up.

Then they gave me Maribelle, and since I love troubadours I was torn between switching to her and dropping Lissa, or ignoring her and continuing with Lissa. So I thought "Why not use both?" and I rolled with that.

Then later it was time to promote Miriel, so I figured why not use her as a backup healer just in case? So I made her a sage.

Then Sumia was up to promotion and I wasn't aware that falcon knights are staff wielders in this game. I figured they'd gain swords like in FE7. I gave her staves since I couldn't picture her as an efficient mage, and while it was marginally useful as a backup for the backup, her healing never became that impressive. She still was probably the most powerful falcon knight I've ever played though.

Okay. I am doing my best to try to get everyone on the action.

I definitely work well with Chrom and Stahl, and Virion and Sully I'm really using them as a nice combo. I save Frederick in case I really need the support if I'm geting volleyed by a lot of attacks, and I use Lissa to help me make sure I don't lose anyone.

I hate when they are the enemies are like "Oh hey, the three of us are going to attack the same guy even though there are other people closer we could attack.
