I just thought you got a trophy when you beat Master Hand as a "congratulations, you beat him. take this trophy of your character"
 
Besides, even opening animations for characters entering the match in Melee showed you in their trophy forms for a brief moment

See, amiibos make infinitely more sense now.
 
Amiibo are CPU's that gradually increase in difficulty level by training against them. That's the only differene from normal CPU's.
