Maybe I'm miss reading this but Bowser always breathed fire in the games, its like his signature attack.

Considering Bowser flies "in front" of the screen and the fireballs come from above him and that one still appears after Bowser comes back, believing that he made the fireballs with his mouth is purely speculative.

Careful what you say there, he does fly forward and the fireballs come from above. I've seen it before.

Does he have to breath fire in every game? He can use other means.
 
I'm aware what he does, he probably flies away, lobs them over, then flies back, its the most obvious conclusion.
 
Or maybe he doesn't throw them over, and they come from one of his machines?

We'll never know what he does, so maybe we should stop arguing as this'll get us nowhere.
