Unpopular opinions about the Mario series

Yeah, NSMB2 was as boring as hell.

Unpopular opinion: My favorite type of villain in a Mario game is the intelligent kind that has a complicated evil plan, and relies on magic and/or technology to get stuff done, not just brute force. Fawful, Antasma and Dimentio, among others, fit this description, which is why I wish they would appear more and not stay dead. They deserve their chance too. Antasma is the worst case, ugh dat ending tho

I liked NSMB but that was before I started getting into the RPGs and stuff. Wii was ok, the others didn't stick with me so well. They weren't bad per se, just mediocre

i liked the first one, hated wii, and i dont want to even bother with 2.

nsmbu though doesnt look that bad if you ask me, of course 3d world beats the crap out of it.

But if you want me to be honest, i dont think nintendo is trying very hard with the nsmb series, as fun as nsmb was and how fun nsmbu looks, they honestly just look like cash grabs.

So, Bowser then.

No offense but most of the time Bowser's plan is just this:

1. Kidnap Peach
2. Hide in castle
3. Wait for Mario

Or at least in the 2D platformers.

Actually its usually
1. Conquer location(s)
2. Kidnap Peach
3. Wait for Mario.

In which case him staying at his castle is perfectly fine, he's a king so he'll want to be at the center of his territory.

I'm not saying it's a stupid plan, it's just not very complex

His plans in games like SMG were kinda cool though, even coming close to conquering the entire universe is pretty badass

No, but none of ther badguy's plans are that complicated either.

Revolver Ocelot they are not.

Leave Peach unattended so she could escape?

Peach is far too incompetent in those platformers to even think of that

Except in 3D Land.

Plus they have a tendency to keep her in places that wouldn't be easy to get away from.

To be honest, Bowser always just seemed like a big thug to me. Not really a complicated, deep, or very intelligent villain. Villains like Ganondorf and Ridley I find more enjoyable because they aren't just big muscles. They're intelligent, calculating, and sinister. If Bowser was put in the Zelda universe, he'd probably be one of the numerous temple bosses that mindlessly attacks Link.

Ridley is hardly intelligent

most of the time he aligned himself with mother brain to simply sit there and do whatever, using his space pirates to do what she wanted(well aside from when samus was really young).

The space pirates themselves were just barbaric, power hungry, killing machines.

They were hardly intelligent.

While the manga may or may not be canon, Ridley's portrayal in it may add more depth to him if it is. Here, Ridley is capable of human speech, such as when he orders his troops to attack Samus' home colony. He also has a business-before-pleasure mentality, often focusing mostly on the task at hand rather than focusing on other things. However, he may occasionally attack and kill people for kicks. During his encounter with a young Samus Aran, he is shown to be very manipulative and cruel, lulling Samus into a false sense of security by calling her cute, only to attack her when her guard was down, as Samus was too young and naive to know just how threatening Ridley truly was. When an adult Samus confronts Ridley again, he is shown to gloat about his time at her old colony, playing mind games with Samus and reveling in the destruction he caused there. In this regard, Ridley is shown to be incredibly psychopathic.

its not canon, it doesnt matter.

It's like saying dbgt happened with all its nonsense.

Ganondorf I agree with but Ridley is more of a thug than Bowser is.

Mind you none of them are particularly deep, or even all that calculating.

The most calculating Ganondorf ever got was essentially just letting somebody do the work for him.

In Ocarina of Time, Ganondorf gains the king's trust soon before he attacks the sacred realm and probably kills the King.

Also, Ganondorf can be a deep villain. Wind Waker gives Ganondorf some really good motivation and background.
