Tried too hard to be post-ironic
Well I can see where that comes from, when I first played I thought the World 1-1s were really similar up until I saw the rolling ground.

Magikrazy said:What's he supposed to do? Leave Peach unattended so she could escape?
Nysic said:No offense but most of the time Bowser's plan is just this:
1. Kidnap Peach
2. Hide in castle
3. Wait for Mario
Or at least in the 2D platformers.

Peach is far too incompetent in those platformers to even think of that

While the manga may or may not be canon, Ridley's portrayal in it may add more depth to him if it is. Here, Ridley is capable of human speech, such as when he orders his troops to attack Samus' home colony. He also has a business-before-pleasure mentality, often focusing mostly on the task at hand rather than focusing on other things. However, he may occasionally attack and kill people for kicks. During his encounter with a young Samus Aran, he is shown to be very manipulative and cruel, lulling Samus into a false sense of security by calling her cute, only to attack her when her guard was down, as Samus was too young and naive to know just how threatening Ridley truly was. When an adult Samus confronts Ridley again, he is shown to gloat about his time at her old colony, playing mind games with Samus and reveling in the destruction he caused there. In this regard, Ridley is shown to be incredibly psychopathic.

Villains like Ganondorf and Ridley I find more enjoyable because they aren't just big muscles. They're intelligent, calculating, and sinister. If Bowser was put in the Zelda universe, he'd probably be one of the numerous temple bosses that mindlessly attacks Link.
