If any enemy of Godzilla should appear, it should be Gigan imo

The problem with Gigan is that the director wants Godzilla (and possibly sequels) to be grounded and realistic. Obviously not too realistic, because we need Godzilla to actually be like Godzilla. Gigan would be cool, especially if he looked like this.

I'm so glad that movie is available on DVD now. I was able to pick it up at an anime con back in January. Now, if I can just get my hands on inexpensive copies of Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster, and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.
