Yes. And I will have to do it again. I don't kill innocent people, however. Only those who mean to do us harm. Those who I simply cannot stop by natural means.

But as soon as I return to the war, all of that will change.
 
Nobody's ever cared about war, until they experience it first hand. This war is one that will stretch across the universe, destroying everything in its path. And I bet you wouldn't want it to destroy your home planet, and everything you love. As long as this war is waging, you better show some concern at least.

Is it not justified to kill one man to save a million? Or would you rather allow the mass murderer to go free, so that he can kill again, possibly on a larger scale? What would you do if a loved one was down the end of a barrel, and a maniac on the trigger, with no other way out than killing the trigger-man? I do what I do to save people's lives. Better to end a life to save billions, than save a life to end billions. You should understand, yet you brand me guilty. Yet here I am, trying to save all of your lives. Wouldn't be the first time. I'm not a maniac, I'm the one who has no other choice.

If a loved one was down the end of a barrel, as you say, what I would do would depend on who that loved one was. Some I'd save, others I'd let die. I care little about saving lives. If you want to have that discussion, talk to Kiriya's government slaves (*at this, Daidouji and the Hanzo girls look at Suzune with indignation*). I care only about completing the mission, whatever the cost. That is my path as a shinobi.

Suzune: Junko never was all that bright. There was that high school incident a while back (and the island incident later), and that was a disaster. Doc, I'm curious. When the lives of "innocent" high schoolers were at stake, you did nothing. When one of my students attacks one girl (despite her commanding Yomi and the others to slaughter anyone they found, they didn't), you decide to imprison everyone. Disregarding the fact that I would most likely kill you if I had the chance, I don't understand how doing this helps you with your war or why we are more of a concern than Junko and her kind were. How about Light Yagami? You didn't do anything when he decided to be "god of the new world." Things took care of themselves. What's different?

I'm not a God. I'm a traveller. When you put me at a situation that I have no knowledge of, you instantly label me as a deity. Something that can save you at a moment's glance. One who is always there, one you put your faith in. I don't understand how you can possibly blame me for an incident that happened in a whole different world. Some things just don't sort themselves out, there has to be intervention. The sanctity of peace is decided through different men on each civilisation, not through divine intervention. Everywhere, there are generals, and governments, and dictators, always deciding what's best for their people. What makes them so different from me?

I'm simply doing what's necessary to keep people alive. Half of you are murderers, and half of you aren't. In the presence of murderers, I must do what I think is best for us, to keep everyone alive. That's why you're staying in there.
