Spiny
Whilst I love learning new words mario games don't touch on the reality of death, in the games death is just a way to punish players for not completing a level in life it is a devastating and horrid experience to loose someone. However the fact that mario games have death both in the form of dying and killing enemies reflects the dark nature of humanity as we can't create a form of media even for children without killing/death being central to it. This is a bit sad in a way since there should be much more then simply killing to create (puzzles, exploration, learning) and is a mirror for the human experience.
