Did anything in a Mario game ever make you cry?

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Luvbi...

I never really liked Luvibi so I never found that part sad.

Gross.

How is that gross?

For a lack of a better word, but the whole event and character was just... boring and corny.

Honestly there have been far more interesting sad moments in the mario series and that just wasn't it.

The Mario series is well-known for its deeply engrossing and moving storylines, and so it's natural to expect that at least some of its moments made me cry in a way nothing else had since the last Shakespeare tragedy I read. One of these moments was the capture of Miss Petunia in Luigi's Mansion. This moment was so striking because even though she seemingly has nothing to hide, Petunia's shadow behind the curtain represents our inward desires to be better than we all are. This great moment of the revelation of so much of human nature came as quite a shock to me, especially after her capture, when she gave out a tiny resigned sigh, as if to say, "I've failed to do what I could, and therefore I don't deserve to be free anymore". The tears were streaming down my face in such copious quantities that I thought someone had poured a bucket of water on me.

I did think that part works, but I agree the gameplay design makes the chapter less appealing.

I know it's really stupid, but Mario Party 3's ending made me cry a bit when I was young. I thought that :tumble: had died, but then I realised how dumb I was and stopped crying. :yoshi:

Super Paper Mario sacrifices lots of people to safe the universe.

not that bad compared to other games where majority of the planet dies before its saved.
