Another Metroid 2 Remake.

Some of you might remember I made a topic about this in mindless junk before, which was kind of a joke in most cases, but this one is more serious.

All metroid fans can agree that Metroid 2: return of samus was a pretty horrible game in about every way possible, especially compared to later Metroid side scrolling installments such as super metroid, metroid fusion, and metroid zero mission.

However this amazing genius named DoctorM64 started project AM2R. A complete remake of Metroid 2: return of Samus. Yes, a fangame, which a lot of you might think is the worst thing ever, but among so much trash eventually comes a gem.

Here is a comparison of Metroid 2 the original and AM2R:

Now for the fun part. There are two demos avaivible, but I'll just post the most recent one, since it just fixes the game and adds more stuff than the previous demo.

but there are some good things coming up in the game which are labeled as new features for a side scrolling metroid game.

I haven't played the demo, but I really like the idea of one button press for morph ball mode; Nintendo needs to add this in future 2D Metroids.

oh okay thanks, i edited it so it actually visable.

Also yes one button for morph balling is excellent, although i do like the moon walking too, i remember it being in super metroid but it wasnt that great compared to what it is in the demonstration video.

I thought it was pretty well regarded? How can it be worse than the original?

it was better to say the least and introduced some cool stuff, but the gameplay was still kinda boring and wonky, guess it depends.
