Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Re: Mario Kart 8

I haven't played or bought any of the Kart series games for a long time but I will be buying MK8 when it comes out and will be looking forward to the day of its release. When I found out the koopalings were going to be playable characters, I was quite surprised and also really ecstatic. It's great to learn that they will finally be playable and that they are appearing in more games in general lately. I wonder what the controls will be like on the Wii U Gamepad rather than the wheel remote what came with MK Wii.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Oh, if you did play this game, what Koopaling would you play as?

Re: Mario Kart 8

Roy is my favourite koopaling but have a feeling he'd be too heavy. I'd probably play as Lemmy who would be lightweight and also because of the name coming from a website what started my online life.

Re: Mario Kart 8

What's wrong with being heavy? :metal:

Re: Mario Kart 8

Is it too delusional for me to still have hopes that a Double Dash mode is unlockable? :( I really wish they had made this game have that feature, as I think Double Dash is the best Mario Kart of all. I just came up with a roster and I think it would be pretty cool.

Roster:
1 ) Mario & Luigi
2 ) Peach & Daisy
3 ) Yoshi & Birdo
4 ) Toad & Toadette
5 ) Toadsworth & E. Gadd
6 ) Baby Mario & Baby Luigi
7 ) Baby Peach & Baby Daisy
8 ) Koopa Troopa & Paratroopa
9 ) Donkey Kong & Donkey Kong Jr.
10 ) Shy Guy & Magikoopa
11 ) Wario & Waluigi
12 ) Bowser & Bowser Jr.

Unlockable:

13 ) Rosalina & Lubba
14 ) Diddy Kong & Dixie Kong
15 ) Boom Boom & Pom Pom
16 ) Dry Bowser & Dry Bones
17 ) Petey Piranha & King Boo
18 ) Honey Queen & Wiggler

Size distributions:

Small:
1 ) Toad
2 ) Toadette
3 ) Toadsworth
4 ) E. Gadd
5 ) Baby Mario
6 ) Baby Luigi
7 ) Baby Peach
8 ) Baby Daisy
9 ) Koopa Troopa
10 ) Paratroopa
11 ) Shy Guy
12 ) Dry Bones

Medium:

1 ) Mario
2 ) Luigi
3 ) Peach
4 ) Daisy
5 ) Yoshi
6 ) Birdo
7 ) Donkey Kong Jr.
8 ) Magikoopa
9 ) Bowser Jr.
10 ) Diddy Kong
11 ) Dixie Kong
12 ) Pom Pom

Large:

1 ) Wario
2 ) Waluigi
3 ) Donkey Kong
4 ) Bowser
5 ) Rosalina
6 ) Lubba
7 ) Boom Boom
8 ) Dry Bowser
9 ) Petey Piranha
10 ) King Boo
11 ) Honey Queen
12 ) Wiggler

Explanations:

About Donkey Kong Jr: Yes, yes, I know what you have to say about Donkey Kong Jr. It's just that I think Dixie Kong should appear in the game and it's obvious that Diddy Kong has to be her partner, because adding Tiny Kong would be just too much. I think that chronology theory is bullshit and I don't think it's valid, because we have seen both Baby Mario and Mario in the same game many times, so I don't care if Donkey Kong Jr grew up to be the current Donkey Kong or whatever. I think he could have a fantastic relationship with his cousin Diddy Kong. Jr has been absent for many years and it would be nice to see him making a comeback in a series were he has already appeared.

About cutting Funky Kong: because I think it would be awkward to have him as Donkey Kong's partner, since Diddy is now with Dixie. Plus, I despise him.

About cutting Lakitu: I think he was the worst addition in Mario Kart 7. I don't have anything against him but it's just weird to have him in a kart. He's better off as the referee in my opinion.

About cutting the Koopalings: I think this is an obvious one. There are too many of them and there's no pattern that could tell who would be paired with who. Plus, them being 7, an uneven number, would leave one of them without partner (and no, Bowser Jr is staying with Bowser).

About having Pom Pom as a middle-sized character instead of a large-sized character: Look at both Pom Pom and Boom Boom in Super Mario 3D World. You'll notice that Boom Boom is much bigger than Mario and company, but Pom Pom is as tall as them in their Super form.

About using Mario Kart Wii's size distribution instead of 7's: Mario Kart 7's is way too divided for such a big amount of characters. Most would fall under the Feather and Heavy classes, leaving the Light, Medium and Cruiser with very few characters. And, as you can see, using MKWii's size distribution, it's perfectly balanced.

Tell me what you think :D

Re: Mario Kart 8

Your roster is too even.

Is that a bad thing? D:
No, it's not necessarily bad, but roster weight balance, although it shouldn't be extremely skewed, it doesn't necessarily have to be equal either. As long as you have adequate amounts in each class, there's no need to balance it because the rest are just clones.

I find heavy characters too hard to control plus they're too slow also.

Heavy characters have been the fastest ever since Double Dash...

Probably referring to their abysmal acceleration.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Remember when Mario and Luigi were the only balanced characters?

Yah.

And it's still like that in Mario Kart 7.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I hope this game doesn't have character stat boosts, and only weight classes. It's better because it doesn't make you want to choose a character just because of its stats, like in Funky Kong in MKW. It gets boring fast playing 11 Funky Kongs in a wi-fi race.
